Chapter 10 Flight of the Dragonets

  "What. Is. Going. ON?" She hissed angrily. "Pine, Stonefly, Snowstar, GET IN HERE!" The other guardians clamored in at once.

"What?" inquired Pine, "Did Cherry eat my Fried Mangos again?" He glared at Cherry. "Those are expensive!"

"No. I heard them talking about an escape plan!" All the guardians were silent at once. They glared at the dragonets. Pine turned red with anger. "That's even worse than stealing mangos!" he muttered.

Snowstar was livid. "WHAT?" He angrily roared. He reared up on his hind legs and swung his tail towards Yeti, who was closest, and hit him square on the head. Shard jumped in front of Yeti, to protect him, and helped him up, glaring at Snowstar the whole time.

"But-" Cherry started.

"NO MORE EXCUSES! THIS TIME THERE WILL BE A PUNISHMENT!" Stonefly bellowed.

Amber roared right back at Snowstar and screamed, "NO! WE WERE KIDNAPPED AND BROUGHT HERE! IF WE WANT TO LEAVE YOU CAN'T STOP US!" Starflower hit Amber and she crashed into the wall, then fell down and banged her head against the ground. She was unconscious. The other dragonets stepped back nervously.

"This is what happens if ANYONE disobeys us!"Starflower screamed manically.

Tears slid down Cherry's face. She hated to see her guardian, who was like a mother to her, hurt her friends. "Starflower, please! We didn't mean it!"

Boriel, oblivious to the lie, said, "Well, we kind of did mean it..." Stonefly flung herself towards her. Blackpearl jumped in front of Boriel and slashed Stonefly. Cherry flinched and looked away, but she heard Blackpearl being hit as well. Her eyes closed, Cherry ran through the guardians and into her cave. Shard, Yeti and the rest of the dragonets quickly followed, carrying Amber and Blackpearl on their backs.

Cherry grabbed a bag and shoved Blackpearl's scrolls, Shard's bottled and dried fruit, Yeti's armor, Boriel's coins, her own medicine jars, Amber's spear and Bracelets, and the pets in.

They were soon stopped by the guardians, but the thought of their punishment forced them to fight. Yeti quickly threw Amber's spear at them. They scattered but Pine grabbed Cherry's tail and pulled her back. Shard howled with rage and tackled Pine, smashing his head into the walls of the cave and spraying his flamsilk in his face.

Cherry ran for the exit, and grabbed Blackpearl and Boriel's talons, pulling them along. Looking back at Yeti carrying Amber. Starflower blocked the exit. Yeti roared as he used Amber's head as a battering ram, as Starflower fell to the ground Cherry looked at her guardian. She had spent her whole life-or as long as she could remember-with Starflower.

Shard put a talon on Cherry's shoulder.

"Let's go," he whispered. As soon as he finished Pine tried to make a desperate save and sprayed venom at the dragonets. It hit Shard in the talon, narrowly missing Cherry's shoulder..

"OW," he shrieked as he flew slower and slower until he plummeted to the ground.

Cherry supported him. The other dragonets were flying away. Cherry was the only one that could help. She flapped her wings, and dragged Shard up. Soon Shard joined in. They soon caught up to the other dragonets, and Amber took over carrying Shard.

So much for our carefully thought out plan, Cherry thought.

They decided to take cover in a market near the Mudwing Kingdom. They saw Icewings and Hivewings and all other tribes as they walked over to a healer for Shard. It was a little old Leafwing with a brownish color and speckles of green. "How many coins to have a Rainwing venom healed?" Blackpearl asked as Amber laid Shard unconscious on the floor.
