The dragonets all acted at once. Yeti took a deep breath, preparing for the ice to come out of his mouth. Cherry positioned her fangs. Shard readied his flamesilk, and the other dragonets pinned Starflower down.
"I didn't know you had the nerve to show your snout after the Mudwing village!" Cherry yelled. "You wart-faced tree toad!"
Boriel flinched, and gave a stern look. "Cherry, mind your language." Yeti poked her and shook his head as if to say not the time.
"NO!" Cherry spat, "Starflower was the one who kidnapped me! She treated me nicely, but I doubt that was real love! She deserves to be boiled in oil, and eaten by vultures!" Cherry's claws clenched. "You low down, lying, sneaking, filthy TOADSTOOL FACED WARTHOG!"
Blackpearl tapped her from behind and she whirled around. "Calm down. This will only end badly," she said gently. Cherry let go of Starflower and walked several feet away, huffing and puffing. She hadn't realized she had been digging her claws into Starflower.
Starflower never dropped her smile. "Well, it seems that you've all changed little Blackpearl, so different from when your mother died." Blackpearl shook her head fiercely. "Yeti! You've got self confidence! And Cherry...your parents wouldn't recognize you." Cherry snarled.
"Where. Are. They?" Cherry turned to face Starflower. Her scales were dark red with anger.
"Cherry, I'm sor-" Starflower started. She didn't look sorry to Cherry.
"YOU ARE NOT SORRY! BUT I WILL MAKE YOU SORRY!" Cherry screamed and lunged at Starflower. Rage coursed through her veins. Starflower rolled out of the way just in time, barely avoiding Cherry's claws and dragging the other dragonets with her. Shard was squashed under her wings.
"CHERRY, STOP!" Blackpearl cried.
Amber grimaced. "Cherry, I hate her too, but--"
Cherry flexed her claws, ignoring everyone. Shard ran in between Cherry and Starflower. "Cherry, what is stronger--your love for us, or your hate for Starflower?" Cherry paused, thinking. Shard's words didn't work and she lunged at Starflower again.
This time Boriel tried. "Maybe she has a meaning for her visit. We can ask her where your parents are? And she can bring us to them!"
Cherry shook her head. "It won't work. She is only here to capture us again! I'm just trying to stop her! So stop stopping me so I can save us!"
"That isn't what you're doing. You hate her and are taking your anger out on her. Maybe you think you are saving us, but we can still use her knowledge. I mean, we're kind of lost." Yeti pointed out towards the fields.
Cherry growled at him. "That. Is. Not. True." She said between breaths.
"Cherry, listen! She is sorry! I saw that she was coming here a while ago, she came so that she could say sorry!" Blackpearl cried. "I swear."
NO SHE DIDN'T STARFLOWER HATES YOU! One part of Cherry's brain screamed.
Cherry stood with her claws an inch away from Starflower. She slowly lowered them, and her scales turned a slight purple. "I will trust you for now, Starflower. But I'm warning you. Give any sign of betrayal-ANY SIGN- and you won't have to worry about your future, or the world's. I'll end your future." Cherry turned away in disgust. "You can deal with her." she said to the others. "See if you can find out what she did with my parents."
As Cherry walked away, she twisted her hands together and rope grew from the ground, binding Starflower's talons together. Shard shot her a disapproving frown. She gave him a shrug back.
