Chapter 2.2: Drawing Attention

Today was the day after the beep test. As I entered the classroom, I could see some of my classmates had bothered expressions.

"Satou, what's wrong with you guys?"

"When I wake up in the morning, my entire body was stiff as heck. It was really painful to move, the beep test yesterday was really something!"

"I guess you're right..."

"But you look like you're fine though."

"Trust me, my body actually hurts."

That was a complete lie.

When our muscles was put under a considerably heavier load than usual, it gets damaged, that's why it's hard to move your muscles after very intense training. Our body will then try to repair it. When the 'repair' process is done, our muscles will get stronger.

"Alright everyone we will now begin homeroom. But first I have an announcement to make, in the first period, there is going to be a test."

Everyone started to panic since just yesterday they were asked to undergo intense physical training.

"Sensei, this was really on short notice!"

"Don't worry, this test was created just to get a grasp of your ability, it won't affect your Academic Abilities."

All of the students start to sigh in relief.

"Most of the questions will come from the stuff you learn during middle school. So you'll be able to get a good score if you've passed middle school. Even though this is not an exam, do this test to the best of your abilities. Any form of cheating will result in severe consequences."

It was now the first period.

Everyone flipped their papers and started to fill in their answers. There were 50 questions on the test, the first 45 questions consisted of the things you learn in middle school. I could pretty much breeze through all of it in under 10 minutes.

The last 5 questions, however, were unfamiliar for high schoolers. It was exponentially more difficult than the first part.

Now, what score should I get?

The result of my beep test yesterday was above average, and I got a B. Now, considering that my teamwork and social contribution scores would be quite low. I guess I'll put my academic abilities slightly above the average. I left the last 5 questions blank, and fill in the answers for the easier ones. I intentionally answer some questions wrong so that I could get a B-. I was done in around 7 minutes.

Feeling bored, I decided to look at what my classmates are doing and wait until the time ends.

Lunch Break

"Yo, Ayanokouji-Kun. Wanna grab lunch together?" Asked Satou

"Sure"

We then headed to the cafeteria together. We were accompanied by Hirata, Karuizawa, and some girls.

I ordered a katsudon set and went to a table currently occupied by Inogashira. Everyone else was still grabbing their lunch so I decided to join her.

"Ayanokouji-Kun, mind if I ask you something?" Her face was slightly flustered

"What is it?"

"Are you and Satou-San-"

"No, we're not dating."

Apparently, everyone's been thinking that I and Satou were dating and that we've known each other since middle school.
