I and several other students will be participating in the pole toppling event. We were standing at an open field, waiting for the game to start. In the distance, you could see several school staff carrying what seemed to be a very tall pole. From the looks of it, it was made out of metal since the sunlight reflected off of it.
"The lots have been drawn, the red team will be attacking first. The event will begin at 11:00 AM." Announced one teacher.
This was not your usual pole toppling game. It seemed like the creators of this event had changed the rules of the game significantly. Unlike a normal game where the pole is static, one team would have to move the pole into a designated place, and the other team have to topple the pole down before the other team had moved the pole. The faster a team could topple down the pole, the more points they get.
Modified Pole Toppling
Location: Multipurpose field.
Starting time: 11:00 AM.
Type: Boys Only.
Rules:
Each team would become one of the two available roles, which are: attacker or defender. The event would consist of two rounds where each team would take turns attacking and defending. The roles during the first round would be determined by drawing lots.
The defenders need to put the pole into the objective point, while the attackers would try to prevent the defenders from doing so. The pole is 3m (10ft) tall and 60cm (42in) in diameter. It is made out of steel coated with aluminum alloy.
The defenders would be given 10 minutes to reach the objective point. The track length is 120m, which is further divided into the grace area and the free area.
The first 20m of the track is considered the grace area. As long as the defenders are still in the grace area, the attackers are not allowed to move outside their initial boundary. A yellow line would be placed 20m into the track, marking the border between the grey area and the free area. In the free area, which spans the rest of the track, the attackers are free to move into the defender's boundary.
If a participant is caught causing an Intentional act of violence or leaving their designated boundaries, the participant would be disqualified and 5PrP would be deducted from their team's rewards.
Rewards:
The defenders would start with 25PrP where 1PrP would be deducted every 60 seconds starting from the start of a round. A failure to reach the objective point before the time limit or keeping the pole from tilting 30 degrees in any direction would result in a 15PrP deduction. The remaining points a defender has at the end of the match would be added to their team's total score.
If an attacker had successfully prevented the defenders from moving the pole into the designated pole before the time limit or titled the pole more than 30 degrees, then the attacking team would receive 25PrP. Otherwise, the team would receive nothing.
The rewards given to each team would be the cumulative number of points earned after two rounds divided by two, rounded up.
Each individual participant would also be given one-fifth of the PrP earned in this event, rounded up.
That means if a team scored 19 PrP, then each participant would get 19/5 = 4 PrP. This game was not created by our team so the white team had an advantage.
