"Focus. Focus on your hearing. Focus on the ground. Try to feel the sounds," Ragnar said.
Ragnar was teaching me how to hear and feel vibrations. I had my hand on the cave. I tried to feel the sounds, though I didn't exactly know how. I did however concentrate my hearing. I heard the slightest sounds. A bee buzzing and I heard water dripping from the cave, but I was still not feeling vibrations.
"You're hearing well. But you're not feeling vibrations." Ragnar said.
"I don't know how." I said.
"Ugh. I knew this would happen. Okay, let's try this." Ragnar said grabbing my hand.
He led me to the wall. He put my hand on the wall.
"Concentrate." Ragnar told me.
I did concentrate. I felt something buzzing in the walls. Those must be the vibrations.
"Think of yourself as a spider. The world is your web." Ragnar said.
I felt vibrations of many animals. Birds landing on the branches. I felt the vibrations of people walking. Wait... I recognized their voices. Uh-oh. It was Astrid, Heather, and Fishlegs. They were coming.
"Let me guess your friends are coming." Ragnar said.
"That is correct." I said.
"Well I'll be on my way." Ragnar said walking away.
"Wait where are you going?" I asked.
"I cannot be seen with you. Your friends will try to cure you. Always remember this; you can never be freed from your curse." Ragnar said as he fully disappeared.
I couldn't believe it. I will never be free. How can I tell the others?
"Hiccup! Are you alright?" Astrid asked.
Toothless was the first one to attack me. He tackled me and licked me a few times. I guess he didn't get the memo about me being dangerous.
"Are you guys alright?" I asked.
"Fine. Don't worry, Snotlout will be fine." Heather said.
"That's a relief." I said.
"Come back to the village. Stoick wants to see you." Astrid said.
"How can he possibly want to see me?" I asked.
Astrid put her hand on my shoulder.
"Hiccup. He's your dad. He will always want to see you." Astrid said.
"Okay. I guess I have no choice." I said standing up.
