Ari's pov
______________________________________Two week past since the catastrophe and Ari found herself feeling surprisingly fine, both physically and emotionally.
Haru's okay, Persephone's back with her panflute and Ari's own body was healing right, even if her arm still feels strange, then again it did take most of the hit of the branch.
But one of the things that made Ari feel weird was how the Isle of dawn ended up like this and why, It was clear the Haru and Persephone both had their suspicions, every night they would have a hushed conversation about their theories and speculations, Ari would try to join them herself but they would always tell her to sleep and rest.
Ari was getting tired of that.
Just because she got hut by some branch doesn't mean that she's useless , it took them a week of Ari ranting about it to convince them to let her help with all the current problems.
"Nope no food there, I've tried trust me" Haru was marking a spot at the map they found at an abandoned house that presumably belonged to a spirit when it was alive.
"Haru" Persephone massaged her temples, the stress really has been getting to her lately " You said that about every potential spots that we found, if we don't risk it then we'll all die of starvation"
"I didn't say there was krills there, I said there was no food there" Haru said, not taking his eyes of the map "If we go there, it would be a waste of time but then everything would be a waste of time, let's face it, there's no food here"
"We have to keep looking" Persephone said "The isle of dawn is a very big place, maybe we missed a spot"
Haru's grip on the map tightened "What spot? There isn't any, you're acting like there's a giant hole we missed-"
"Actually" Ari blurted out "there is a giant hole"
Both Haru and Persephone looked at her like Ari had gone insane
"When...the island we lived in broke" Ari explained "I remember seeing this huge hole while I was falling, I wanted to get a closer look but Haru grabbed me and blocked my view"
Ari waited for one of them to say something, then continued "but honestly, the hole looked man made, no way something like that would be made naturally, so it could have some things inside"
Haru looked at Persephone then sighed "Well, I guess it's worth a shot"
No one's pov
______________________________________Then there they were, heading towards the hole under Ari's instructions
The cave was dark and filled with unlit torches, there was puddles of water almost everywhere, signs that the place was flooded at some point.
No one said anything as they ventured deeper into the tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel was something that none of them expected.
What caught Ari's attention first was the three glowing orbs the size of manta eggs, the the tiny small stone boat holding it, in the middle of the tiny build, in the floor in front of it is a small glowing diamond ring.
"What.." Persephone said, absolutely dumbfounded.
Ari reached her hand towards the orbs when Haru said something. "Don't touch that" he said, his voice filled with caution.
"Why? It looks like its made out of light, we're made out of light I don't think anything bad would happen" Ari looked at her brother
"You don't know that" Haru said and Persephone shrugged "he does have a point"
Ari scowled at her "Exactly we don't know anything, what if it could help us somehow?"
"Stop jumping into conclusions without gathering proof" Haru groaned "Curiosity killed the crab, remember?"
"Why are you so paranoid all of a sudden" Ari said "you weren't like this a week ago"
"Because a week ago we weren't fighting for our lives" small frustration loomed in Haru's voice
Persephone tried to stop them "guys please-"
"We aren't even fighting for our lives, were just scavenging, your acting like we're warriors from the wasteland" Ari said, making her voice even to his
"Maybe you need to learn that just because we aren't in the worst case scenario doesn't mean that our situation isn't terrible" Haru snapped at Ari
Ariadne didn't say anything, she didn't expect him to get that angry easily
"Persephone, let's go" Haru turned away "this was a waste of time"
"You're a waste of time" Ari said, surprising everyone, even herself, she didn't know she was that angry at her brother, yet she continued
"You always tell us to give up at the first try, we find something that could help us, I doesn't work the way you want it, then you give up"
Persephone looked at the siblings, it was strange she was never this quiet during their arguments.
"Maybe you should learn that just because something doesn't work out at first doesn't mean that we should give up easily, maybe if we just try harder, search harder" Ari raised her voice
"Heck maybe we should just leave the isle of dawn and find food in daylight prairie"
"Are you crazy!?" Haru's eye twitched
"We don't know what's out there, we'll all get killed!""If we stay here, we'd still get killed!" Ari gestured to the mess outside the cave "please Haru, it's worth a shot"
"No it isn't, I can't let you get hurt it's too risky" Haru said
"Why won't you just let me take the risk for once" Ari doesn't even know if she's angry anymore, at this point she was about to vent her fears.
"I'll take the risk" Haru said sternly "It's too dangerous-"
"Two weeks ago you were letting yourself get hit by debris" Ari's voice wavered
"It's almost like you want to join Lilith in Orbit"
Ari's words were unexpected, Nobody really knew about Haru's childhood friend except the fact that she disappeared all of a sudden. When she did Haru didn't give up looking for her, even when it was clear that the skykid was dead.
Tears streamed on Ari's face, it was obvious now that she was just scared.
Scared that they'll all die there, scared to lose her brother just because he can't let go of an old friend.Persephone looked at Ari with concern while Haru stood there, his expression unreadable.
He sighed and gently approached Ari, but she felt a spike of fear and took a step back, accidentally tripping and bumping into the stone boat, bringing the orbs down with it
"Ari!" Persephone ran towards her but a flash of blue light came. Showering the room in a blissful light.
