Persephone's pov

Caelus hummed a tune as the boat flew quietly through the clouds
" Caelus? What's the purpose of the handles on the boat?" Haru said breaking the silence  "I'm sure most skykids would want something to hold on when they go down a whirlpool of clouds" Caelus causally said
Ari didn't look so calm anymore
"I'm starting to have second thoughts on this.."
"Nah, you'll be fine this boat is very safe!" Caelus pointed to the cracked stone handles on the side of each chair. When nobody spoke Caelus went back to humming

The boat finally reached the entrance of Golden wasteland where the whirlpool stood. A huge flock of birds
Flew to it.
Persephone wondered if the birds knew where they were going. If they did do the birds just mindlessly accept their fate without any struggle?

The boat made a creaking noise like the sound of gears turning as it started to fly down the whirlpool
"All right this is it. Brace yourselves!" Caelus said holding on to the handles Haru and the others did the same
Persephone closed her eyes, her right hand squishing Ari's and her left holding on to the handle
Persephone yelped,but her voice was drowned out by the sound of the boat plummeting to the clouds

Ari's pov

life flashed before Ari's eyes

She saw Haru introducing her to Persephone,Haru teaching her how to fly, Ari making her first perfect flower crown, the first time she touched a manta. Every single bit of Ari's achievements and favorite moments in life
Ari opened her eyes a little
Persephone tightened her grip on Ari's hand, she was also closing her eyes. Haru looked dizzy and a slight look of regret
On the other hand Caelus unbothered by this in fact his face lit up with excitement and joy.

The view of golden wasteland soon became clear. It reminded Ari of isle of dawn, except it was much more untidy and grim

The boat was now uncomfortably close to the ground
"Caelus shouldn't you slow down the boat!" Haru shouted over the wind
Caelus ignored him
"Um Caelus?" Ari said her voice turned tiny as the boat was now seconds away from hitting the ground
Ari prepared herself to fly away when suddenly the boat stopped falling
The boat slowly drifted around the sand before flying high again
"Caelus aren't we supposed to go there?" Persephone gestured to a structure with statues Infront of it

"Well yeah that's the main route,the thing is golden wasteland has been much more... wasteland-ish than usual so going there would basically be a death wish" Caelus said
Persephone wasn't thrilled to be reminded of how Golden Wasteland was as strong as Eye of Eden at that moment
"Buuut we can go here"

"What is that?" Haru asked
"Just some old darkstone factory that hasn't been used in who knows how long" Caelus said
"I thought that we have to pass Tsadi's   temple in order to go to The Vault of Knowledge" Ari said confused
"Then what you know is false, Last time I was here-"
"You go to golden wasteland multiple times!? Isn't that dangerous?" Ari looked shocked
"It isn't that dangerous...if your careful,anyway back to the subject,last time I was here I found this tunnel with a minecart that led to The Vault of Knowledge"
Caelus continued
"But why is there a tunnel in there anyway?" Persephone asked
She expected Caelus to be the one to answer but Haru did it instead
"Back then people would place darkstone that were freshly mined to vault of knowledge for scholars to inspect Incase there was something wrong,once fully inspected the scholars would place the darkstone back on the minecart to be sent to golden wasteland once more to be used"
"what he said" Caelus said clearly suprized at Haru
"So how long are we going to be riding this boat?" Ari said
"For a few hours at least so feel free to do anything"  Caelus replied

Haru's pov

Hours had passed
Persephone was playing her panflute while Ari stared at the dark water
Caelus looked around he occasionally stretched his arms and legs 
Haru thought about Estella and the others,maybe they were taking care of
Mantas and birds in the caves or feeding Kairi the giant bird

"We're here!" Caelus said at last
Persephone packed her panflute again and Ari was immediately interested
"Finally that took forever" She groaned as she went out of the boat

Persephone's pov

As they entered the old factory, Persephone began to take note of her surroundings

It was a large room with a hallway that splited into eight smaller ones.
In the middle of the room was a statue of Resh. Persephone went closer to it
And found words carved into it's base.

The statue's intimidating presence made Persephone shudder, she didn't know whenever it was from fear or the cold
"Persephone why are you staring at that statue?" Ari asked
"I...it's nothing" Persephone catcher up with the group who were walking towards one of the hallways
Ari still looked mildly concerned
"Are you sure your okay? You've been staring at that statue for five minutes straight"
"Im fine,really I was just lost in thought" Persephone reassured her friend

Ari looked at the walls of the hallway they were walking in, each wall had large cages big enough to store a whale
"I wonder what those are for.." Ari muttered to herself
"Oh that? They were used for trapping mantas and other light creatures" Caelus said
Haru looked suprized and disgusted at the same time "they did what?"
Caelus shrugged "I know right? I asked one of the local spirits and they said it was used for sapping the light out of those poor creatures"
"Why...why would they do that?" Persephone asked, wishing she never knew what was the purpose of the cages "It supposed to be for darkstone,I don't know why though, when I asked them,they simply shook their head like they were ashamed of the truth and honestly I don't blame them" Caelus responded
Persephone turned to Ari who looked at the cages like it was going to grow arms and grab her
"Well this is were I have to stay, good luck with whatever your doing" Caelus said Persephone remembered that none of them had told Caelus about the light orbs but it's too late
They were about to leave after all
"Tell me when your ready so I can light this darkstone with my candle" Caelus said once the trio were on the minecarts. He tapped the darkstone on the wall
"We're ready now, Bye Caelus!" Ari said cheerfully
Persephone and Haru were about to say their good-byes when Caelus summoned his candle and placed it near the darkstone sending the minecart away
