Chapter 44

6 MONTHS LATER

Amy had bought the Land and the fence between Heartland and Big River was repositioned to extend the grazing for her Dad's cattle. The price of security for the outer fencing did go up obviously but without the existing Boundary fence not needing sensors it didn't go up that much. Also the old Big River land had more forest which the horses loved. It did mean more predators like Bears and Mountain Lions but everyone was used to those.
Tim was over the moon when Amy had spoken to him about her plans and more land. She showed him how to set up the App for Sensor Alerts on the Gates and open fencing suggesting the Ranch hands have the App as well.
Of course it could be a Tree down or a car crash so not just Rustlers, so they would be aware of any escape routes for Cattle or horses.
The following day of buying the land she asked her head Ranch hand how many extra hands they would need to monitor the now 2000 acre Ranch, as did Tim if he was going to increase his Herd.
The children were growing up fast and Jordyn was just like Amy, mad about horses and taking it all in. Amy remembered herself doing the same things with Marion.

Lou's Cabins were built and each one was self sufficient as planned.
Amy and Ty couldn't believe they'd been married for two months already and they were both so happy and both were very busy, but they always made time for family time. They decided that three children was just right unless they had an accident, but to plan another and then have an accident would mean less time between them for raising the children they had. They were happy and enjoying every minute as a family.
After the twins were born Amy took up shooting lessons and according to her trainer she was a natural, she had normal training and for using a scope.
It turned out to be a good thing as the following week the Alarms went off on one of the gates and it wasn't long till Amy and Tim had saddled their horses when one of the Ranch hands phoned to say Rustlers were after the Cattle. They knew they were about from the reports they received from other Ranchers.
Amy had phoned Ty, he and his dad were on their way in a very Large Horse transporter, as they approached the gate His dad told him to pull passed the gate then swing the truck across the road blocking it, giving the Rustlers only one direction out, straight towards the oncoming RCMP patrol cars.

When Tim and Amy got to the brow of the hill they met two of the Ranch hands, Ty and his Dad were near the gate and two Ranch hands were just approaching the edge of the forest behind the Rustlers, they had a clear shot at the trucks and started shooting out the tyres. The Rustlers started firing back but couldn't see where they were, then Ty and his dad did the same shooting out the main cab tyres.
The boss of the Rustlers looked around knowing they couldn't drive away then saw Ranchers on the hill.
Tim noticed they'd been seen and shouted to dismount, as they were getting off the horses a shot rang out and Tim saw Amy fall to the ground.
"AMY".
"I'm okay Dad, just my shoulder".
Amy crawled forward through the high grass then pushed her rifle through the grass leaving a few grass strands in front of her Scope, her crosshairs were clear so she zoomed in to have a look, there was the boss, his group were looking for who was shooting out the tyre's but the shots were coming from two directions .
Amy noticed he had a scope which explained how he shot her from that distance, she looked at his rifle and from what she'd been taught hers was better, she took aim and pulled the trigger, his arm dropped with a busted elbow but he still tried by swapping arms and his shot hit the soil way out in front of them.
"Well it looks like he don't want the other arm either dad".
Amy took her shot taking him out of the game with two busted elbows.
"Nice shot Amy".
Thanks dad, can you not hit that far".
"Nah, we'd have to get closer, how's your shoulder".
"Stings like hell, that's why I'm laying down ". Amy said smiling.
The other Rustlers seeing there boss sat on the floor after being shot twice from the top of the hill decided to drop their rifles, they were no match for the guns these Ranchers had.
Then they saw four come around them and four riding down the hill, they knew they were out matched and when they saw the rifle Amy had in her arms they new why, she could of shot every one of them.
A few minutes later the RCMP arrived just as Amy predicted, always too late. If they hadn't started shooting the tyres out they would of been gone by the time the RCMP got here.

Amy and Tim were talking to the police Sergeant and the other constable's were watching the Ranch hands unloading what Cattle they had on board which wasn't that many as when the shooting started the herd stampeded out of there.
Ty saw Amy and then saw all the blood, he started running over and when Amy saw him she took two wobbly steps and fell to the floor.
"Amy, where'd he get you".
"Shoulder, seems like the Adrenalin has worn off".
They heard the Ambulance arriving and Ty asked if they could take it for Amy and get another for the other bloke.
The Sergeant nodded.
"Dad, can you take my horse back and tell Julie the babysitter we may be a little late".
"Yeah no problem Amy, see ya later".
They got in and they tended to Amy as the other drove off to the hospital.
"Well those Sensors paid off Amy".
"Yeah they did, we were saddling up when dad's Ranch hand phoned to say it was Rustlers, I was hoping it was just a tree fell down ".

When Ty and Amy got home Lou was in their Apartment along with Jessica, they'd told the babysitter what happened and they'd take over so she could go home. They both came up and hugged Amy glad that she was okay. They both thanked them for watching the children.
"Hey Lou, that sister of yours is a right Cowgirl and I never thought she was that tough".
"She never used to be Jessica, but after what she's been through I suppose it does toughen you up".
"Well I'm glad she's going to be alright Lou, see you tomorrow".
Lou thought for a few seconds "Jessica, thanks for the help".
"Your welcome Lou".

6 Years Later

Life was great, the RCMP had given them all a letter of thanks for catching the Rustlers. Lou's Holiday Business with the Cabins was a great success and the Amenities, she was always sold out so another ten Cabins were built after Lou and Amy discussed where to put them.
Amy and Ty were so in love and both there Businesses had taken off, Tim and Jessica got married five years ago and Tim was a father again to another girl, Lou was indifferent as usual but Amy was overjoyed at having a much younger sister, she thought that the three children were just right till she started throwing up for two mornings running.
"Ty".
"Yeah Amy".
"You know we said that 3 children was just right barring an accident".
"Yeahhh".
"Well we've had an accident, oopps".
