His Lost Trouble

Chapter 11

"Where are my car keys?" Amy asked as she rushed down the stairs with Iris on her hip.

"Why?" Gabe asked as he watched Iris yawn and rub her eyes sleepily.

"Because I am going to be late to work if I don't leave in the next few minutes," Amy explained as she quickly threw her hair up in a messy bun.

"Work where? North's bar isn't open right now," Gabe said confused while the rest of the men remained silent.

"I work three jobs, Meanie," She sighed in annoyance shutting another drawer then grabbed her purse to start going through it, "When you are a single parent without help from the other adult you tend to have to work multiple jobs to afford everything. Where are my keys?"

"Is it really fu-fudging wise to be working right now?" Gabe asked as he sat his coffee cup down on the counter and grabbed Amy as she tried to rush past him. "Hey talk to me."

"I can't," She shook her head and tried to break free, "I have to get Iris to the babysitter and I have to get to work, Meanie. Please let go, I need to get to work before I get fired. The boss already hates my guts, I don't need to give him another reason to try and fire me."

"Where do you work?" Owen asked.

"Today, Wednesday, and Friday I'm the accountant at Wilson Enterprise, Tues and Thursday I work at the library and Wed, Friday and Sat night I work at North's bar," She huffed.

"Not anymore," Gabe, North, and Owen shook their heads.

"What?" She asked shocked. "What do you mean not anymore?"

"You can help me out today," Axel said coming into the room. "I need help at the aquarium since my assistant is on maternity leave and Iris can come with us and learn about the animals."

"I'll come get Sweet Pea after morning rush and she can help me make cupcakes and cookies," Luke smiled and winked at her making her clap in excitement.

"What?" Amy asked in disbelief.

"I'll bring them in later, Axel," Gabe nodded as he led her to the table and made her sit. "I'm taking them to the salon in a bit so I can get Trouble's hair back like it should be."

"What?" She asked looking up at him, "No, I have to get to work, I can't just suddenly not show up. That's not professional," She started to stand but he put his hands on her shoulders with a tiny bit of pressure so she knew she better remain sitting.

"Hello Mr. Wilson, Owen Blackbourne speaking," Owen said into his cellphone. "I just wanted to let you know that Amy Bennett will no longer be working for you, she is now my personal assistant. Mr. Lee will be by later this afternoon to pick up her last paycheck, I expect it to be ready when he arrives. Thank you," He hung up his phone and straightened his tie. "There, you are no longer working for that incompetent waste of space. How his business is still surviving I will never understand."

"It probably won't now," She murmured as she moved her spoon around in the bowl of cereal as she stared at the milk.

"Why do you say that Trouble?" Gabe asked as he took down her bun and started brushing her hair gently, remembering that she was tender headed.

"I ran his numbers for him," She murmured, "I was the one that noticed when his assistant was embezzling from him and when one of his managers was feeding information to a rival company. He said more than once he would make me partner since I was holding the company together if I would only do what he requested but I kept refusing. That's why he hates me."

"I kill him," Raven growled as he slammed his coffee cup down on the counter making her jump in surprise. "He touch Kitten, he die."

"What did you order now Gabe?" Brandon asked as he walked into the room with a box.

"Fuck yes, it arrived early!" Gabe smiled taking the box from Brandon.

"LANGUAGE!" Everyone and Amy said in unison making him burst into laughter.

"I got Sweet Pea a present," He smiled as he opened the box.

"Pressie?" Iris asked and began bouncing in her seat.

"Here you go," He said carrying the box over after Luke and North moved the dishes out of the way.

Iris climbed into Amy's lap then stood while Amy held her safely. Iris opened the box and squealed in excitement making the men chuckle. "Glad I got this on video," Luke smiled as he kept recording. "What do you have there, Sweet Pea?"

"Gumpy Boo Bear Lossa Heart Elfie!" She squealed as she pulled the stuffed animals out of the box then plopped down in her mom's lap hugging them tightly. "Taint too Me Me."

Gabe chuckled, "You are very welcome Little Trouble."

"How in the world did you find them?" Amy asked shocked.

"I have my ways," He winked as he bent to kiss the top of both of their heads then walked off to put the box in the recycling bin.
