"I can't believe Jessie is coming back after running away and leaving us to pay for a rent that was split evenly between six people." You say anger laced in your voice as you try and keep your tone low. You were leaning against the kitchen counter with your arms folded.

"(y/n), she explained in the letter that she just got scared when she lost her job, and had no one to turn to." Your tall friend Angelica responds to your words hoping she could calm you down. She pushes back her silky black strands of hair out of her face so she can get a better sight of the dishes she was doing.

"No one to turn to? She had all of us in the house." You had protested against Angelica's words not buying anything your ex best friend had said. "I mean there's you Angelica and Ayla everyone knows when they need someone to talk to they go to you guys. I even thought we were once close enough that she could tell me anything." You look down a little at the thought of Jessie not thinking you two were as close as you thought. You shake your head, anger consuming the sadness.

"Would have been better than just running away with no trace scaring us all." You say hitting the counter lightly with your fist. It would be an understatement to say that Jessie leaving didn't hit you the most out of everyone. You two were childhood friends, you had known her as a kid and when you moved away you still kept in touch with Jessie till you guys were able to move in together.

"I know you still hold a grudge about Jessie leaving you." Angelica says as she puts a comforting hand on your shoulder. "And I know we all still hold some troubling feelings. But it seems Jessie had found people she could take comfort from, this is good it means she is better mentally and that's all that matters in the end."

"And all the math I had to do to split the payment between us five totally didn't wreck my mental state." You mumble before sighing as you look up at Angelica, your tense expression softening. "I suppose you're right..." You decide against speaking your mind and getting aggressive towards Angelica, it wasn't Angelica's fault that Jessie had left and only now started getting back in touch with you guys. Angelica returns the smile glad to see you calmed down. The front door to the house opens revealing a really tired girl with blond hair that was in a messy ponytail from all the work she had done.

"Oh Ayla, you're back from work?" Angelica says, leaving you in the kitchen and moving to the living room where Ayla was. Ayla had only replied with a simple nod before sighing and collapsing on the couch. "Oh my." Was all Angelica could say. You soon join the two in the living room.

"Welcome back bro, tough day at work huh?" You ask one of your closest friends as you pass her the remote to the TV. Ayla grabs it happily before flipping through the many movies on netflix. Ayla seemed too burnt out from work to want to get up from her spot to do anything.

"Tell me about it." Ayla responds to your question. "I sometimes wonder how some of the people I work with get jobs." As Ayla kept going on about how stupid her coworkers were you started nudging Angelica signalling her to tell Ayla about the Jessie situation. Despite your constant nudging Angelica still kept silent about it not wanting to burden your already tired friend.

"Jessie is coming to visit." You blurt out, getting a nervous look from Angelica. "Just thought I'd tell you. I got to get ready for work, bye guys." You had rushed upstairs leaving the two alone. Angelica sighs, rubbing her temple. Through the events and the look Angelica gave, Ayla already knew what was going on.

"I'm guessing (y/n) isn't taking it well." Ayla claims, unlike you, Ayla wasn't close with Jessie; she had met her through you. When you and Ayla had become close you had always mentioned Jessie as some kind of other half to you, expressing how you two had the best of times together, and constantly telling Ayla that she and Jessie would get along. Though through whatever you had told Ayla and through meeting Jessie. Ayla knew Jessie wasn't as lighthearted as you had claimed. For example upon their first meeting Jessie didn't take kindly to someone constantly having your attention. Jessie would constantly plan stuff without Ayla but it would fail in the end cause you would instantly invite Ayla to everything you were going to.
