Chapter 25: Saving Grace

A couple of days had passed and it seems that the Rook was working their way around Jacob's area. She was working with the Whitetail Militia to take Jacob down while also being undiscovered. You marked area's the rook would reference when talking about the whitetail militia's area. You got a good understanding of where it could've been. Not like you cared much anyways, you weren't planning on going there.

From the sound of how the Resistance was talking, it seems the Rook would disappear off the radar for a couple of days before coming back. You could only assume it was the workings of Jacob, he probably was training her to kill someone. Someone he really wanted dead outside of his control if he kept letting her go.

Something was bound to happen, and you were prepared for it if something did happen. You were waiting for the perfect moment when you could save Jacob. If you did it too early the resistance would suspect someone else was trying to protect the Seeds hiding them away and they would then try to look for them. If you did it too late then well he would be dead...

The perfect time would be when they suspect the Rook was going to kill them and then snatch them away from the Rook and leave the bunker key so the Rook could destroy the bunker and the resistance would assume Jacob was dead with it. A perfect plan in your opinion. It's good the Rook was going for Jacob first that meant you could roam outside freely without having to blast the cult's music in your ear.

But that would also mean Jacob would be in your bunker. You already had a plan on where to put the Seeds, you were just going to tie them to chairs in their respective rooms till the time comes when you could leave Hope County and have Joseph untie them afterwards. You would still have to feed and give them water but you'll manage... You hoped.

"Jacob made the Rook kill Eli, but now the Rook is on the pursuit for Jacob." You hear someone say over the radio. You turn it up standing up from the couch and grabbing the bliss gun, putting it on a belt with a holster you found in one of the rooms. You get ready to go outside.

"Finally the Rook sure is doing some work." You hear Dutch say over the radio. You quickly march up the steps opening the bunker doors and exit closing and locking the bunker doors. You had your map in hand and had somewhat of a place in mind on where Rook and Jacob would be. You set off using the trees around you as cover as you slink off into the shadows.

You were blasting the mp3 player in your ears as you rushed to your destination. Getting there took some time but it seems you still made it on time. Nobody had noticed you. Jacob and his men were too busy trying to shoot down the Rook. That you were able to climb up the mountain from the opposite side and get behind Jacob. Seems none of his men were near him either. That or the Rook, killed them all.

You shot Jacob with your bliss pistol and he was out like a light. You quickly rip the bunker key off his neck and leave it where he was sniping from. You look behind yourself and spot a nearby tree somewhere along the way you came up. Jacob was heavy since he was so well built so bringing him down the mountain was definitely hard. But you managed and made it to the tree taking cover in the shadow with him in your arms.

The Rook makes it to where he was. She spots the key and picks it off the ground before looking around her for any signs of Jacob. She even looked at where you were at but it seems your idea had worked and she didn't see you two. She leaves assuming Jacob may have already left and she'll fight him later.

You slowly make your way down the hill dragging Jacob down with you. Once at the bottom you keep him hidden in a bush before you look around for any cars. To your luck it seems Rook had shot out a cultist driving by, for who knows what reason, and left the truck lying around. You rush towards the car and pull it over to where you left Jacob before bringing him into the truck on the passenger side.
