Chapter 2: Now Leave

     "Hello." Jessie even sounded different than how you remembered. At this point this wasn't even Jessie to you. "It's been a while and I would just like to say I'm sorry. But I am happy to say I found people who have shown me the light and helped me build up the courage to come back and face my problems head on." you watched in horror at this new version of your friend.

     "I'm happy to hear that." Angelica says as she lets Jessie in.

     "Glad to see you again." Ayla says, you could tell by her tone alone Ayla also noticed the change in Jessie but decided not to bring it up so instead you did.

     "What the hell happened to you?" You say, you had a look on your face showing that you were just completely shocked at this change of a close friend of yours. Jessie turned her attention to you and simply smiled at your claims before letting out a giggle. She walked up to you with open arms and pulled you into a hug that you clearly didn't want.

     "Oh (y/n), I'm so glad to see you haven't changed a bit." Jessie says holding you close to her. "I think you especially would love these new people I met. They're so inspiring and they have these good ideals that I think you all can connect to."

     "Sounds like a cult." Your words were muffled into the hug. You were getting annoyed by the tight hug that you started forcefully prying her arms off you. Once you got her arms off of you, you moved away from Jessie.

     "I'm truly sorry." Jessie starts up again. "Angelica I was jealous of your looks all the time. You are so pretty and I felt like I could never compete, envy. Ayla I wanted all of (y/n)'s attention with me but I had to realize that (y/n)'s friendship could be shared between us two, greed. Chris our relationship I didn't see that friends with benefits and I abused our love and twisted it into something else, lust. Issac I was always so upset at how much attention Chris would give you when we were dating and sometimes I would unlawfully explode at you, wrath. Lastly (y/n) I saw our friendship as more than just friendship. I wanted to be the only friend you ever felt close to. I wanted you to rely on me and only me, pride." Jessie had finished her long tangent catching everyone off guard. "Oh gosh it feels so much better getting that out of the way." Somehow this had touched everyone's hearts except you. You weren't buying this not even for a second as you just furrowed your brows. Not wanting to say anything about the matter.

    "Wow it takes a lot to admit all of those you really have grown." Of course Chris was the first to eat this all up. You watched as he grabbed her by the hands and pulled her in for a hug. "I'm just glad you're safe after all this time. I was so worried."

     "Hey, Jessie I sort of figured out as much when you did certain stuff." Ayla admits, "But I'm glad you told me about it and actually decided to apologize for it. I can't forget but I can forgive."

     "Hey it's okay, I know I tend to over step my boundaries with people and tend to hog people." Issac says, "I should apologize for taking most of Chris' time when you two were dating."

     "Thanks guys for giving me the time to explain myself." Jessie says now weeping. But you weren't buying it. Something told you that this was not apologizing, it was purely gaslighting. The tears were clearly fake and you weren't about to excuse her for putting almost everyone in this house in distress. Not that but Jessie seemed so different to you. You didn't think this was the same friend you had known a year ago. If gaslighting and taking advantage of people's emotions was Jessie's play then you would have to join along in this charade.

     "Jessie." You start, "That means so much to me that you are able to confess all of your sins you felt you inflicted on us." You had noticed how she would mention a sin after each apology. The reasoning behind it was beyond your understanding but that also means this had more meaning to Jessie. Just as you figured Jessie had taken notice of your use of words and smiled at you.
