Carina

"Where were you? While you were gone I mean."
"California. It was too sunny for my liking." Andrea chuckled.
I heard my phone ring and I furrowed my eyebrows. Why was Amelia calling me?
"Hello?"
"Carina. You need to come to the hospital."
"Why? Is everything okay?"
"It's Maya. I-"

I dropped my phone and my heart started racing. My bambina.

"Victoria. I need you to watch Caterina." I rushed to the living room and grabbed my purse.
"What's wrong? Who was that?"
"Maya- hospital-" I felt my breathing quicken and I grabbed my chest.
"Hey, hey." Vic rushed to me and cupped my face.
"Breathe with me. Okay? Just breathe."

"I'll drive you." Andrea grabbed the car keys and made his way outside.
"I-I gotta-"
"Go to Maya. Call us. We'll be fine." Vic kissed my forehead and I ran out of the house.

"Grey+Sloan?" He asked as I got in the car.
I nodded and he took off driving.
"What did they say?"
"I don't know. Amelia said Maya was at the hospital and I didn't bother to listen to the rest."
"She's gonna be okay. She's a fire fighter. She's ran through freaking fires. She'll be okay." Andrea patted my hand and pulled into the hospital parking lot. He dropped me off at the front, and I ran inside.
"Can you tell me where Maya DeLuca-Bishop is please?" I asked the lady at the front.
"Visiting hours are not for another hour." The lady said without looking up from her computer.
"Yes I know that but I'm-"
"Going to be waiting for another hour." The receptionist sighed.
"Excuse you? I don't know who you think you are but-"
"Ma'am you need to calm down. Visiting hours aren't for another hour."
"I am calm and it's Doctor." I snapped.

"Carina!" I turned and saw Bailey running towards me.
"Bailey, please tell this cagna that I need to see my wife." I shot the receptionist a dirty look.
"She's a doctor here Nancy. You better learn who these doctors are and treat them with respect."
"Yes Chief Bailey."
"Come with me. I'll take you to Maya."
"Is she okay? Is she hurt? What happened? Did-"
"Carina. You need to take a deep breath. Maya is okay. She had a panic attack, which caused her to pass out." Bailey said as she led me onto the elevator.
"A panic attack? Maya hasn't had one of those in forever. Did she say what caused it?"
"She said something about 'Andrea'? Before we gave her some medication. She's sleeping now."
"Dio mio, Andrea." I sighed.
"Andrea as in Andrew? Your brother?"
"It's a long story Doctor Bailey. Just know that he's alive and well."
"Alive?" She gasped. "You know what. We'll come back to that." She wagged her finger at me.
"Come on." She led me out of the elevator and into Maya's room.
"Oh, my bambina." I whispered as I looked at her sleeping in the hospital bed.
"We want to keep her over night for observation. It's not one hundred percent necessary, but she's family."
"Thank you Doctor Bailey. Thank you." I leaned down and hugged the shorter woman.
"Carina! Is she okay?" Andrea came running up to us.
Doctor Bailey's mouth opened slightly, but she quickly shut it.
She picked up the clipboard that was laying on the table and started hitting Andrea with it.
"Andrea DeLuca! Don't you ever pull that stunt again! Do. You. Hear. Me!" She enunciated every word with a hit.
"Ow! Ow! Doctor Bailey!" Andrew knew better than to block the clipboard. Doctor Bailey was 'The Nazi' after all.
"You damn fool. We had a memorial service for you!"
"Doctor Bailey, why don't you come with me and I'll explain everything." Andrea offered.
Bailey huffed and followed him away from Maya's room.

I sighed and made my way to Maya, sitting down in the chair next to her bed.
"Hello Doctor DeLuca!" Jo said as she wheeled in the ultrasound machine.
"Hello Doctor Wilson. Why do you have the ultrasound with you?"
"I'm giving you a check up." She said simply.
"Jo, I am not the one who's hurt."
"But you're anxious, your blood pressure is probably up, and you're stressed. We can either do this in here, or in another room. But either way you're getting checked out."
"Jo I'm fine. There's not an extra bed in here and I'm not leaving my wife."
