Chapter Thirty-One

Maya
Four weeks later

"Maya!" I heard Carina shout from the other room.
I threw my coffee cup into the sink, and ran into the bedroom.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
"My water broke." Carina groaned as she bent over in pain.
"What? You're only twenty-five weeks! We still have three weeks to go!" I shouted.

"I heard screaming! What's wrong?" Vic ran in.
"Carina's water broke! I-I need-"
"I'll get the bags! Andy! Grab Maya's phone and call Addison and Shepherd!" Vic shouted as she grabbed the three bags from the floor.
"Fuck!" Carina cried out.
"Come on baby, the hospital is only ten minuets away." I said with a quivering voice as I tried to help her walk.

"We don't have ten minuets! These bambini are coming now." She said with gritted teeth.
"What? Now? What?"

"Get me in the tub." Carina breathed out.
I reached down and gently took her in my arms, carrying her to the tub.
"Warm water. Towels. Scissors."
"Wh-What?"
"You've delivered bambini before Maya." Carina reached up and turned the water on.

"Not triplets! Not preemies!" I cried out.
"Maya." Carina growled.
"I called Travis! They were at the hospital and they're bringing Shepherd." Vic ran in and her eyes got wide as she looked in the water.

"I've got everything we need and- IS THAT A FUCKING HEAD?!" Andy shouted as she ran into the bathroom.
"The babies are coming Maya," Carina groaned. "We need you."
With those words, all my fear went away. My girls and boys need me.

"Andy, get behind Carina in the water. Vic, you're going to be holding the first and second babies out. Carina will hold the third." I knelt down in the water, rolling my sleeves up.

Thank God we opted for the two person tub.

"Bambina, I'm going to push." Carina grabbed Andy's hand and squeezed hard.

I watched as the baby's head got pushed out, right under their nose.
"Give me another one babe. The baby is almost out. You've got this." I reached my hands under the water, and gently took the baby's head.
"Come on Carina. You got this." I heard Andy whisper in my wife's ear.
Carina let out a scream as she pushed out the first baby.

"It's Andrea!" I cried out with a smile as I handed the baby to Vic.
I heard Vic whispering to her nephew and rubbing his chest.
I gently reached my fingers inside, and felt the second baby's head.
"Alright love. The second baby is right there."
"How is this happening so fast!" Andy exclaimed.
"I thought I was just cramping! I'm an OB for christ sake."
"How long have you been cramping?" Andy gently wiped the tears off of Carina's face with a wet rag.

"Bambina." Carina whined.
"You've got this. We can get the babies out then you can rest. Okay? Just two more babies."

Carina nodded and let out another scream as she gripped Andy's hand and pushed.
"Come on baby. Almost there." I encouraged my wife as I gently rubbed her thigh with my free hand.

A few seconds later, I lifted the baby from the water and Megan let out a cry.
"Megan is here!" I smiled brightly at my daughter. My light haired, tan skinned daughter.

"Okay, just Matteo left Carina. Just one more." I handed Megan to Vic.

"I can't." Carina cried and shook her head.
"You can, Carina. I know you can." I reached up and pushed her hair away from her face.
Carina nodded and squeezed Andy's hand so tight, I swore she'd break her hand.

Carina let out a cry as I heard footsteps behind me.

"Come on baby, you got this!" I encouraged as I felt Matteo's head fall into my hands.
"Fuck!" Carina screamed out and Matteo was in my hands.
