17. The Chosen One

Kai stopped at the middle of the room and rotated on his heels to face Palin. She was already looking at him and he went to speak before she pounced on him.

Her lips were rough and brutal. He stilled as she continued assaulting his unmoving lips. His hands were still on his sides and eyes wide open in shock. She moved her hands almost demanding round his upper body.

Palin seemed to realize his unresponsive body because she also stilled and stopped her assault. She stepped back enough to look at his face. She noticed his shocked expression.

Kai felt nauseous and visibly gagged. That gesture didn't go unnoticed by Palin who was closely observing him.

Palin already knew she had already lost the prince emotionally and physically. The only way she was planning to get him was through a spell of seduction. It would work because it was dark magic.

Kai nearly choked on his spit when he noticed something in Palin's eyes. The black of her pupils was spreading to the entire eye.

He took a step back and she took one forward. Kai would never, i the his years of existence, have guessed that the girl he once liked enough to go against his kingdom was the one standing in front of him.

"W-what are you?" His voice betrayed him when it cracked.

Palin smiled evilly before stepping past him and sat down at the chair he always sat on when he visited his room.

He turned and followed her with his bulging eyes, too terrified to move a inch.

"Not what my dear Prince but who I'm I," she smiled almost innocently and had the royalty to wink at him with her almost black eyes. He shuddered at the gesture, "I'm Palin, your beloved consort, remember? I was your only friend in the Warrior Realm." her voice was deeper and held an hint of accusation in it. She stood up, " Your first love, Kai." the break in her voice made Kai look up but then she laughed. The laughter held no emotion and sounded like a rehearsed sound a villain would make.

She whipped her head to face him. Her face hard and cold like the depths of the icy lands.

" I loved you but you had to go and marry that bitch. She took my position in your life and you had the guts to rub that on my face."

"You lied to me about being a normal person?"Kai accused, his shock was wearing off and was replaced by disbelief and betrayal.

Kai knew black magic when he saw some. He had learned of how it worked and what it looked like. With that came the realization of who Palin was. She was young, so she wouldn't be the Goddess of the dark, so that meant she was...

"Black rose," Kai whispered facing her.

She smiled at him as if he had cracked the hardest riddle.

Then she stood up and a black smoke surrounded her. In a no time, it was cleared. She stood there in a black dress going down to her ankle, her hair was in a ban held up by different hair pins in rose shapes . Her eyes were thankfully normal and in her hand a black rose. Her magical sign.

Despite being a normal human being. The prince's connection to the Chose is to one gave him a vulnerability. He was a target and if the dark realm had him under custody, that would be advantageous because the Chosen one would do anything to get him back, including trading places.

The problem now was there was no chosen one.

After flaunting her identity to Kai she turned back to her normal dressed innocent consort and smiled.

Time for her spell.

Iris watched as the goddess flicked her left hand and a portal appeared. She blinked in owe.
The goddess smiled amused and gestured for her to follow.

As they got in she felt her right wrist growing warm and she looked down. The bracelet was glowing. She panicked and stopped making the goddess look back in question.

The Prince was in danger.

"You know what, I'm going out there and announcing this to everyone." Kai said and made to walk out before he was painfully dragged back by unseen force. He fell on his bottom and looked up in shock.

Palin stood on his side looking down at him with what could be mockery or disgust.

" There is one thing I hate, sharing what is mine and people walking out on me. I am a princess."

"And I don't care who you are," Kai said in disdain and stood up.

He knew he was no match for her and could feel the unmistakable lump on his throat. He swallowed it harshly.

He thanked the heavens that Iris wasn't there to meet such a situation and smiled. She would be safe.

" I guess you are thinking of her?" Palin said calmly, too calmly.

He didn't answer, the stink on his left cheek told him of what had happened. He looked at Palin who was glaring at him her hand still in the air. She had slapped him.

"Don't ignore me," she screamed.

Then it all happened at once. He saw her blow something but his vision was blurred by the unshed tears he was holding back.

He closed his eyes and wished to never open them again when he hard a maniac laughter definitely from the evil woman with whom he had spend time with as his friend, lover and a consort. He thanked himself for not sharing his bed with her.

Darkness embraced him and he felt at peace.

"The Prince is in danger!" she whispered.

The goddess looked at her and smiled.

"At least not until two days and two nights have passed," she said

"What do you mean "

"You kissed, I assume?"

Iris blushed.

"The willingness of the kiss between the two of you, who are destined can protect him from any dark power or magic for two days and two nights." her voice held no doubt and Iris hoped that was the case but..

"What do you mean destined"

"You are a destined pair," The goddess said slowly as if explaining something to a five year old.

"The prince is destined to the Chosen one, which as you can see I'm clearly not!" iris deadpanned feeling a little irritated at the fact and a gnawing worry of what would be happening back at the kingdom.

They entered a new world. For a moment, her breath was taken away by her surroundings. The place she was in was surrounded by pink flowers, growing up to her knee. And further down stood a bubble like building.

They moved on with the goddess at the front, silent. Her majestic robes floating around her like a protective mass. Her hair blowing to the direction of the wind. She looked peaceful.

If only she knew what was happening in her Kingdom. Iris thought

The bubbled building opened up and she saw a throne at the far end of the opening. The walls were all golden and below the throne, there was an enclosed water reservoir with blue, pink and white fish swimming around.

The goddess sat down on her throne. And gestured for her to sit on one of the only two seats available.

"You are the Chosen one."
