Iris watched the double faced woman walk towards her swaying her body as if she was a seductress from the local whore houses.

Her thought made her chuckle. She folded her hands across her chest and tilted her head in question when Palin stood in front of her.

Palin noticed that people were around them were looking at her and she realized that she hadn't bowed to the queen in waiting.

"Your majesty, I would like to talk to you in private, please," Palin said. She gritted her teeth angrily and the words felt bitter in her mouth.

Iris knew the forced respectful exterior was just too fake and especially coming from the princess of the dark. She smirked in satisfaction knowing well how much humiliation Palin felt at that time.

"Of course," she smiled too kindly and an observant person could have felt the tension between them.

*******
"I know, that you already know who I am." Palin said.
She was sitting on the same seat the prince sat every time he visited her room. She had taken Iris there for the private talk.

Iris watched her as she tilted her head to the side gauging her reaction.

There was none. Iris had been a warrior and would always go to sign and make peace treaties with neighboring people and she knew how to hide her reactions when needed.

"And...?" Iris asked as she too took a seat on the bed.

"Just so you know, your realm has no power whatsoever to fight my people when the time comes," she said those word and stood up.
She walked towards the window as if to open it but just stood there and took a sip from her cup and observed Iris as she watched her emotionlessly.

" When the time comes, will you be able to prevent your people with your nonexistent fighting skills? Your people are looking up to you but you know as well as I do, at that time, you'll be fighting a loosing battle."

Iris observed that Palin was not talking in a judgemental way but rather, she was stating facts in a calm manner. She was saying the truth.

" Why are you telling me this?" iris asked curiously.

" I want to help."
Iris nearly burst out laughing at palin's words if not for the topic in question but she played along with whatever the conversation was about.

"And how will you help?" she asked supporting her chin with her left palm calmly.

"I have to carry the PRINCE'S child."

Iris choked on her spit and looked up in surprise at Palin who was still blabbing about giving birth. The child would have powers enough to destroy the army of the dark realm? Really?

Iris wasn't informed of this because, she had not read about the son born between Princess Indie of the light and Prince Escarios of the dark in the beginning. If he was strong enough then why was the dark realm in existence then.

"Are you listening?" Palin asked when she noticed iris staring at nothing in particular.

"mmmh."
Before Palin would come up with another absurd idea about saving the Light Realm, the call for the royal family to have lunch was heard.

*******
As always the table was loaded with food.

Iris noticed that all the council members were present and so was a few advisors who were specifically chosen to give war strategies.

She knew what was up.

Kai watched as Iris walked in and absent-mindedly sat on the seat next to him. His heart felt warm and he smiled.

The queen watched her son's reaction and smiled. Whether the bond was acting up and he had fallen in love or he was in love with Iris purely without the bond, she was happy.

Palin glared at the pair. She was jealous and she knew it.

Unaware Iris served her plate and the plate next to her as she always did.

"Thank you." Kai said
Iris nearly dropped her spoon but pulled herself together before facing the smiling prince.

She was planning to glare at him but when she looked at his smiling face, she couldn't. She blinked rapidly when her heart sped up and she felt the fairy tale butterflies in her stomach. She gulped silently before subconsciously looking at the prince's lips. They were so close. The prince noticed this, licked his lips and smiled.

Hot.
Iris felt hot. It was too hot.
Kai felt it, a desire too strong to control. Everyone in the room disappeared and only Iris was in his world. With him.

Kai brought his hand up and slowly touched Iris's cheek. She closed her eyes momentarily before opening them to look up at the prince who was leaning in.

She closed her eyes and waited.

At first, it felt like a light brush of a soft rose petal, or warm air. Then, he pressed his lips on hers and moved them slightly and they both gasped. The sparks. Kai let go if her and sat upright.Iris did the same.

What was that!

They both wondered, but not just them. The dining hall was quiet. Too quiet. Iris looked around and nearly laughed at the people’s expressions.

The council members were staring in surprise while the king smiled in amusement. The queen was looking at Iris, mouth open in shock but she recovered fast and winked at her.

Finally was Palin. Her face beared no emotion and that was dangerous.

Kai was already over the shock and smiling like a fool. He didn't know why that happened but he liked it. He didn't mind how other people reacted to that because public show of affection was never a problem in the realm.

The King cleared is throat and when he got everyone's attention, he motioned them to eat.

The event was forgotten as the discussions began. The only person bothered was Palin. It wasn't a surprise to see that happen because the bond created between them was overwhelming sometimes and could scout such strong desire that it was uncontrollable.

But it was the timing that was wrong. She wanted to be alone with the prince that night to make her move.

SHE HAD TO GET PREGNANT.
