Palin busted out of nowhere to the council meeting ongoing. He mother, the queen sat on her throne. Made of purely black stone crystals and higher above the council circle below. Palin knew her mother enjoyed the power she had in her hands.
She liked control and fed on fear. She could kill without batting her eyes and that including her daughter herself. It wasn't a lie that she had killed her husband and his family in her quest to feed her growing thirst of power.
She sat calmly observing her. Her dark air was in a ban and the black crown sat proudly on her head. Her right foot was propped on the throne whike the left stayed down. Her right hand sat on her propped leg on the knee with the palm on view to reveal her ring.
Palin knew how powerful that ring was.
The queen's eyes finally met hers and she immediately went down to her knees showing submission.
She smiled. A cold smile.
"She is alive, I failed my mission my queen and hereby accept my punishment. " Palin reminded herself to swallow her fear or she would be dead.
The queen flinched. It was so subtle because the council of the 'dead men' below never saw her reaction. Her features remained persive with no emotion at all.
Palin called the council dead because they were controlled fully by the queen. Not just them. Everyone in that kingdom was. The queen didn't have subjects, she had puppets and slaves who fed on every word she said like it was a meal after days of starvation.
She feared betrayal ironically. She stood up gracefully and went down the stairs to where Palin knelt.
Palin saw the too familiar jeweled shoes and waited. She was surprised when she saw her hand. She looked up in shock. The queen was offering her a hand to stand up? That was a trick.
She took the hand and stood up waiting to turn into ashes any minute but that never came. The queen turned and walked up towards her throne. She stopped at the foot of the stairs and without turning...
"Prepare, for we have to go to the war soon."

Palin sat down in her room with a sigh. The meeting with her mother had gone too well and she was still worried that something would happen to her. Her mother hated incompetence.Palins mind took her back to the Light realm once again. Her face contorted into anger.
She realized that the anger wasn't directed to anyone but herself. She had failed to identify her biggest foe and regarded her as just a normal woman who would be manipulated so easily. How wrong she was. She unconsciously shuttered the wine glass she was holding but she didn't care.
She stood up, disregarding the broken glass under her feet and walked to the window. It was dark outside. It was already night? She nearly laughed at her stupid thought when she realized she was in the dark realm, there was no light there.
A knock on the door brought her to the presence. She signaled for them to enter. The mechanical looking humans walked in carrying food which looked so unappetizing she gagged. It was all black.
In her realm, everything was black. From foods to drinks, decorations and even the sky was black. Her stay in the light realm had made her momentarily forget her home.
There was a balance between light and dark there. Food looked appealing and there, they ate together.
She laughed bitterly picturing how it would look like eating on the same table with her mother, and those people who had no will. Did she also control how that ate? She wondered as she sauntered to her bath.

Queen Indie sat on her dark room, her meditation room, silently. She looked back to the time she had waited so patiently for her to be chosen in order to kill her prematurely, before she could learn her powers. It had happened and she had succeeded or so she had thought. She saw the body burn in front of her eyes. Her eyes widened when she remembered something she had forgotten at the time. She sneered at her carelessness. Of course, she had the power to make illusion even unconsciously to protect herself. How could she forget? She fisted her hands on her hair before screaming in frustration and anger.
Everything shook with the bought of power emitted from her. She was literally fuming.
The war would not be delayed. According to the goddess, her mother, this was the last war. It would decide who would rule.
When she had heard of that, she had came up with the plan of killing the Chosen one before the war but how unfortunate, she was alive.
Her thirst for power had driven her to killing her lover, her husband. She thought back to that time, due to that his family had decided to out cast her but she didn't let them. She remembered there disfigured bodies laying unmoving as she stood by the door of the family hall.
The drops of dark red liquid flowing from her hands told the story of her deed and on that night, she gave birth to her.
To protect herself and her child. She learned absorbed the magic from the bodies of her deseased in-laws and fed her enough to have a upper hand. A control so strong it was almost unbreakable.
She turned all the kingdom subjects into life puppets. They had no will of their own.
The war was not a hard affair of crossing over a million warriors. From her side, she had only her and her daughter and from the other side, the Chosen one and her mate. In her magical form she fed on her mate's emotions to stay magically enhanced.
Palin was supposed to make him incapable of having emotions and she had failed.
They had to fight, and they had to win. They both had magic which was a disadvantage to them.
The emotion the Chosen one had to feed on was supposed to be real and not magically triggered and according to her knowledge, the Prince didn't love her before the marriage.
If her core was destroyed, without a real emotion, she would easily be defeated.
