24. forbidden pastime.

it was bright out and we'd just finished putting the dolls in the hall. so we went back to the base to wait it out. lin sat down with a candle and small dish with a paper talisman in it. and naru stood observing over lins shoulder. i sat opposite the two with my head in my arms. 
the door opened up after a long while and naru turned around. i lifter my head to see munk and mai at the doorway. the others soon joined. 

"what are you doing here?" naru asked. 

"were just wondering what's going on." munk replied with his hands in his pockets looking towards us with a serious look on his face. 

"were not here to put on a show for you." mai saw the set up and her eyes grew wide. 

"lin wait!" she called to him "listen to me" she came over and slapped her hands on the desk. "dont do it!" 

naru grabbed her wrist and removed it from the table. 

"are you still going on about that nonsense?" i knew what he was doing now but still. 

"you're crazy!" she told him "and your wrong too! those students dont diserve to be punished! they didnt know!" oh mai im sorry, 

"your in our way!" naru yelled back "now leave." he wanted her to hate him. he wasnt sure how this would go. 

"NOO! THE ENTIRE SCHOOL IS STILL HERE THERE ALL IN THE GYM RIGHT NOW! THEY DONT KNOW WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THEM DO THEY?!" mai stop please. 

naru grabbed her by her wrist and dragged her out the room. 

"everyone outside now! dont bother lin!" naru called and they all obliged. i did as well. once outside naru let go of mai 

"ANSWER ME! WHY DOES THAT JERK MATSUYAMA GET OFF SCOT FREE WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS PUT IN DANGER! DONT YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM? EVEN IF THEY AREW PARTLY TO BLAME FOR THE ZUZO CURSE THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING!" i hope lins not getting distracted by this. we really need him to pull this off. "YOUR TRRYIN GTO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE!" naru said nothing. 

no one spoke. 
no one did anything. 

"you are a murderer." mai said. this is when munk chimed in trying to tell her to calm down. "as long as you solve the case then nothing else matters right? and if anyone happens to die in the prosses its just an acceptable loss."

"THATS ENOUGH MAI!" i yelled at her. her face showed shock, i couldn't look at her. i just couldn't.

"you actually beleive him?!" she yelled looking around to everyon else. 

"get her out of here." naru oppened the door and i went in first, not even glancing at mai. "no more interruptions" munk nodded and naru walked into the room. 

"dont you walk away from me... c'mon...somebody stop him!" the door closed and all i could hear was her scream his name. 

i stood upto the wall. sliding down and taking the same tucked position as i did last night. i hate when mai is angry or upset it feels like my heart is shattering. but theres nothing we could do. 
naru doesnt know if his plan will work or not. if it doesnt then he accepts all that has been said. hes okay with her hating him because everything she's said so far is true. he doesnt want to tell her what the plan is he wants her to be mad at him as a punishment for not knowing what to do. he feels to blame for not realising it sooner, if it works then he's going to appologise to mai and tell her why he didnt tell her sooner. 

it has to work out. it has to. 

finally it finished and we were okay to leave and see if it worked. the others followed behind. as we got to the stairs mai and munk came and joined us asking if it was done. naru told her it was and she continued to enquire about what happened. he didnt answer her. he couldnt. cause he didnt know. 

this caused mai to run off to the gym right away as fast as she could. she threw the door open and saw the dolls in the gym. she pieced together what the plan was. as did everyone else. all the hitogata were scattered on the hall floor 

"hey munk i want you and jhon to check all the hitogatas. miss hara miss matsuzaki and... mai, split up and check on all the names on any unbroken hitogata." me and naru retured back to base as they all did that. 

soon enough everyone came back and we found out that everything worked! 
the plan came through! everyone lived and were unharmed. yay go us! 

lin and i watched as mai and naru had there moment outside. we watched as the two made up and appologised to each other. naru apologising first. which mai didnt like. her face grew red as she yelled at him about appologising. naru smiled and mai's face went even more red he went to walk back in but mai ran over and hugged him from behind. he was stuned for a moment but turned in her arms and hugged her back. 

i smiled and leaned my head against lins arm. he moved so he had his arm around my shoulder and my head leaning on his side. 

"im glad it all worked out in the end" i told him. he chuckled and nodded, "hey lin?"

"yea" he looked down at me and i looked up at him. i quickly went to my tippy toes and kissed his lips. just a peck. before going back to the way we were before. 

"good job" i told him. 

"(Y/N)?" i giggled and looked up at him again. he moved us so i was now stood infront of him he put one arm around my waist and put his other hand on my cheek pulling me into another kiss. 

the kiss was sweet and soft. it was amazing. i leaned as close as i could to deepen the kiss and moved my hands up to play with his hair. we separated after awhile for that dumbass thing called oxygen. curse the need to breath.
