Miss Mystic Falls arrived and Lindsey was excited, but slightly upset. Matt has to work, but he promised to be in the parade. She heard her sister and wondered what was going on with Stefan. Grabbing her book, Lindsey walked out just for her phone to ring. "Hello?" She said walking to her car.

"I'm back."

"Bonnie?" She said. "How are you?"

Elena saw her sister leave and wondered why she looked slightly upset till she answered the call. Lindsey ended the call as she knew Caroline was going to be excited for their friend's return.

At school, the middle Gilbert was gathering her books when Caroline hugged her. "Are you ready for today?"

"What about today?"

"Now, I know better than that." Lindsey laughed. "I'm hoping your sister drops out."

"She won't." Lindsey says. "Caroline, all I can tell you is the same thing I've told you from beginning. Just be yourself. You are beautiful and funny. Don't get insecure because of my sister. That's not who we are."

"Thanks." She said as she saw Elena. "I'm still going to see if she is."

"Good luck."

Lindsey watched Caroline talk to Elena when they saw Bonnie. Bonnie hugged Caroline then Lindsey blowing Elena off. Elena looked hurt as she thought everything was fine, but Lindsey could tell something happened that made Bonnie upset. "What color dress are you wearing?"

"I haven't really picked mine out yet. I think I have one in mind, but I don't know. Would you or Care help me?"

"Of course."

Elena watched the three walk away and knew she needed to apologize and find out what is going on.

After shopping for a dress, Lindsey went straight to her rehearsal with her replacement partner. She hated that this guy wasn't Matt. She did the rehearsal right, but it was ended early because Stefan dipped Elena. "Is there something up with him?"

"I have no idea." She tells the boy. "Thank you, but I'm going to go home and rest."

"Why couldn't your boyfriend do this?"

"He has job unlike some." Was all Lindsey said as she walked away.

Caroline saw Lindsey get in her car and leave. She hopes that she wins or Lindsey. The girl has grown up a lot since her parents death and she seems to be think more of her future now.

"Hey." She said as she walked into the grill.

"Hey." Matt says kissing her. "How was rehearsal?"

"Sucked." She tells him. "Stefan messed up."

"He has been acting weird lately." Scott joined the two. "Is Caroline on her way?"

"She needs to find her dress. She was too busy fussing over you not escorting her." Lindsey tells him. "I know she's hoping to win this year."

"Elena?"

Lindsey nodded. "Linds, I'm going back to work. Tomorrow after the pageant, come by."

"I was planning on it." She tells him as they kissed before she left.

"You slept with her." Scott says.

"I'm not telling you shit."

"You did it." Scott said teasingly.

The next day came and Lindsey looked at herself wondering if this was the right choice. She took a deep breath in before exhaling. She was ready to get this over with. Caroline was shocked when she saw Lindsey in her dress. "You look amazing."

"Thanks." She said as she saw her escort. "At least he showed up."

"Still not happy."

"Not really, but Matt needs to work." Lindsey said. "Hopefully this ends fast so I can cook for Matt."

"Really?"

"Yep." She replies as Caroline's name was called out.

"Lindsey Gilbert and her escort, Mike Hunt."

Lindsey walked down to her escort. She took his hand and walked out as her sister's name could be heard. She wondered why she went first, but knew it was a mix up because of the last name. Standing in front of Mike. They waited for the music to begin.

Once the music started, they danced the way they did at rehearsal. All eyes seemed to be on Lindsey, but she never noticed as her mind was on the dance and getting home to cook for her boyfriend.

Once the music ended, Lindsey bowed as Mike left. She stood with the other contestants listening to Carol talk. "It's with an honor to announce our Miss Mystic Falls." She said. "The winner is..."

Lindsey watched as Carol opened the envelope with the winners name on it. "Lindsey Gilbert!"

"What?" She said.

"Oh my god! You won!" Caroline said hugging her. "You did it."

"I can't believe it."

That night, Lindsey smiled as she set lasagna on the table. Hearing the door shut, Lindsey went to greet him. "Hi."

Matt turned to see the tiara. "You won." She nodded causing him to kiss her. "Let's celebrate."

"I fixed lasagna."

Matt saw the food and knew he could get used to this life. Lindsey Gilbert cooking, carrying his children, and greeting him made him feel love. "I love you."

"I love you." She said as they sat down talking about their day.
