Lindsey couldn't believe that her friend was in the hospital. Scott looked at the couple beside him as they weren't leaving. "You two should go home..."

"No. I'm not going home because my best friend is here fighting for her life." She says. "What noise was Tyler talking about?"

Matt shrugged as Bonnie knew this was her fault. She didn't deactivate the device and she put innocent lives in danger. She looked at Matt and Lindsey as they cuddled up. She couldn't believe this was happening all because of her. Elena walked over to her. "Can you do something to save Caroline?"

"I..."

"She can't. Can you?"

They looked at Damon then back to Lindsey. "You'll do it." She says. "For Elena."

"For my best friend." He says as he walked away.

Bonnie looked at Elena who was a little confused till they turned to see Damon hugging Lindsey. "When did they become best friends?"

"I don't know, but I don't trust him."

The next day, instead of going to the funeral for Mayor Lockwood, Lindsey went to the hospital with Matt. He wrapped his arms around her as they walked in. "Hey." She says smiling. "You're here."

"Why wouldn't I be? I told Scott to call us when you woke up." She tells her. "Are you okay?"

"I'm going to be okay." She says as she saw Matt kissing her head. "Did you stay with him last night?"

Lindsey didn't say anything as Matt nodded. "She did. She's more welcomed there anyways." He tells her. "Maybe one day, she can move in."

"Jenna won't allow that." She tells him. "Not till I'm out of school."

Matt smiled as that day he couldn't wait till that day. Lindsey moving in, marrying her, and her carrying his children. He looked at Lindsey as the girl talked to her best friend. Scott walked over to him. "You are daydreaming."

"Just thinking of my future with Lindsey." He says. "I realized who I should have been with and now, I'm hoping when I bring up the future to her, that she doesn't leave like Elena."

"Don't think she will." Scott tells him. "She always wanted to be with you and now that she knows you mean every word that you love her, she's staying right where she's at."

Matt looked at his girlfriend to see her looking at him with a loving smile. His future was always right in front of him and he never knew it till he got with her. He was happy to move on and finally find love with Lindsey Gilbert.
