Caden's POV
I park my car and get out. I take the path to the tree house and climb the stairs. I stop on the last step and listen to what Tania is saying.
Do you love him? Did you love him? " I hear Sabrina ask.
"I did love him. I loved him a lot. I still love him. Just not like I used to. " Tania replies.
"What does that mean? "
"You know how I love Charlotte? " I assume she nodded because I didn't hear her reply.
"Well when I was younger, I loved him the way I loved Charlotte. But now I love him like a best friend. "
"Well I wanna know why I never met him before. " I'm terrified of what to say. Or what Tania will say.
"I can't explain it sweets. That's for him to tell you. "
"Why can't you tell me why he was never here? And don't lie about it either. I want to hear it from you. "Sabrina kinda shouts. I hold my breath afraid of what she's gonna say. Its quiet for a minute before I hear Tania answer.
" He was never here because I never told him about you." I let out the breath and run my hand through my hair. She's taking the blame for me. She's taking the blame when she doesn't deserve it. I walk up the last step and stand in the doorway. I clear my throat and they both look up at me.
"Did you know that I was best friends with your mom? "I shove my hands into my pant pockets.
" No. "I smile.
" She was such a troublemaker and I always tagged along with her. "Tania scoffs.
" No you didn't. You were to scared to do anything with me. "She says.
" Yea huh. Remember when we went to jersey that random weekend. Just me and you. "Her eyes widen.
" No. We don't speak of that. "I smirk.
We did a lot of things that no one knows about. We had a lot of great times when we were together. Even more when we weren't. Tania's phone beeps and she takes it out. She reads it carefully then smiles and looks up at Sabrina.
" Guess who found your necklace and had it fixed. "Sabrina smiles big and runs to Tania, hugging her.
" Who found it? "She asks.
" Uncle Mason. Said it somehow ended up in his shoe? "Tania says confused.
" Can we go get it? "She claps excitedly. Tania shakes her head.
" Why not? "
"Because we are in the middle of something. Grandpa has it. It's not going anywhere. You can get it next time we see him. "
"But I want it. "
"No."
"We're going to my house. I'm going to cook dinner. " They both look at me. Then Tania nods.
"Yea. He's cooking dinner. It'll probably be burnt. " Tania whispers the last part to Sabrina who giggles a little.
"I'll have you know that your mother loves my cooking. " I smirk at Tania remembering the day she came over for dinner, and everything that happened after.
"Shut up Caden. " Tania mutters.
"Let's go. And I'll tell you now. I want I want shrimp fettuccine with breadsticks. " She say.
"Ues, right away ma'am. "I say and I see Tania roll her eyes as we stand you go. We exit and get in the car.
************
Tania sits at the island while I move around the kitchen preparing the food Sabrina asked for. I watch as she take out her ponytail and runs her fingers through her hair. I miss running my finger through her soft hair.
"So I've been meaning to ask. " I say
"What " She look up at me leaning back in the chair.
"Nothing really just do you remebernr the night before the wedding. Here." I ask as I start preparing the shrimp with some garlic.
"Some. But I don't wanna know anything. " Just then my mom comes in through the door.
"Hi Brooke. " Tania says smileing. God I love her smile.
"Hi honey. Where is she?" My mom asks.
"She's cleaning up in the bathroom. Dinner is about ready." I say. My mom nods and goes to sit next to Tania.
"So what is going on with you two? Are you together.......? " She trails off. Tania immediately shake her head.
"No were not together. " She say. Mom nods.
"Yet." I mutter.
"MOOOOOMMMMM!!" We hear. Tania shoots up.
"What?!"
"CAN YOU BRAID MY HAIR?!" Tania rolls her eyes and stands up going to the bottom of the stairs.
"Yea, sweets, come down here if your finished up there." We hear footsteps down the stairs and they both come into the kitchen. My mom looks at Sabrina when she comes in and then turns to me narrowing her eyes. I hold my hands up in surrender. No one says anything as Tania sits Sabrina down and starts braiding her hair. I finish the food just as Tania finished with her braid. My mom suddenly speaks up.
"Sabrina. Come with me honey. I want to have a little chat with you. "My mom says while standing. They leave the kitchen. Tania comes around the island grabs some wine glasses. I smirk and she glares at me.
"Don't look at me like that. I'm going to need this." She mutters.
I chuckle and grab plates and silverware. We set them at the table and she goes and grabs a bottle of wine from my refrigerated wine rack . She cracks it open and pours her glass. I just smirk while staring at her. She rolls her eyes when she notices. She tries to walk past me and sit down the a chair but I grab her wrist and pull down down into my lap.
"Let me go Caden ." I just shake my head and hold her hips tighter.
What I noticed not only while holding her but just by looking at her is that she no longer has her lean but fit body from high school. She now has curves in all the right places and I love them.
I start to kiss from her shoulder all the way up behind her ear in that one spot I know that gets her weak. I slide my hands under her shirt and trace shapes on her sides. Her breathing starts to pick up and I smirk against her neck. I know that she would pull away if I went to far but she's not moving.
I wrap my hand around her neck and gently turn her face towards me. I look in her eyes and see her pupils dilated and I'm sure mine are too. I kiss her cheek and then the corner of her mouth. I then finally reach her lips. I pause. She doesn't move and neither do I. She then runs her hand through my hair , grabs a handful and deepens the kiss. Just as my tongue slides into her mouth I hear a throat clear. We pull apart and Tania stands up.
"Well, let's eat dinner." I smirk at her red face as she sits at the opposite end from me. I know that what I'm starting with her, if we are starting anything, will be hard. We're not in high school anymore. But I will put up the fight for what I want.
Tania.
.......And Sabrina.
