Chapter 16 - The First Fight

I woke up to a knock on my door, I hadn't set my alarm for school this morning, my parents were going out today, so they should've left already, "come in" I said, I heard the door open but I was facing the wall, "why haven't you left yet, mum?" I asked "it's me..." Danny replied, "go away." I moaned, not even rolling over to look at him, I felt him sit on my bed, "I said go away!" I said as my voice broke, 'don't cry, don't cry, don't cry' I said to myself in my head as I wiped away a tear from the corner of my eye.
"Where did you disappear to yesterday?" He asked, I laughed sarcastically, "you would've known if you'd paid any attention to me at all." I told him, "Katie, they are my friends, I hadn't seen them all holidays because I was with you the entire time!" He told me, "whatever, just leave me alone" I replied, he grunted and left my room, slamming my front door shut, when I was sure he'd left I screamed as loud as I could into my pillow.

I lay in bed for the rest of the day, not eating, or getting dressed.
I decided to text Josh, which was probably a bad idea but I had no friends and there was no way I was texting Danny.
'Hey Josh, it's Katie. I was just wondering how you're going? I miss you...'
As soon as I sent the text I regretted it, I threw my phone to the end of my bed and closed my eyes, but before I fell asleep my phone beeped, I froze for a second then reached over for it, 'New Text Message From Josh' I took a deep breath, the opened the message, 'Hey Katie, I'm doing alright, we're doing exams at school at the moment, so that's a bit stressful... I miss you too.'
I couldn't help but smile, I replied straight away, 'good luck in your exams! I was thinking that maybe... We could be friends? Only if that's not too weird for you? I just... I need a friend.' He replied quickly, 'that would be great :) I have to go though, I'm about to get on the bus home, text you later!'
I was so glad to finally have a friend, even if he was 12,000 miles way.
I couldn't stay in bed all day, I grabbed my sketch book and made my way to the park, spending the rest of the day sketching how I felt.

"Katie?" I heard from behind me, I snapped my art book shut and returned to reality, Ally was standing behind me, "shouldn't you be at school?" I asked, "shouldn't you be? Besides, school just ended" she told me, she sat beside me, "I don't know how you managed to make Danny fall for you, but if you want to stay with him, I strongly suggest you stop being a bitch to me and my friends, he's known us since we were 10 years old and I highly doubt he'll drop us just to be with you" she told me, "I'm not a bitch" I replied, she laughed, "I see the way you look at us" she said, she snatched my sketch book and opened it up, revealing the drawing I'd just done, "well, that's depressing" she laughed as she ripped the page out and threw it into the bin as she walked away, "oh and one more thing" she said as she turned to me, "if you tell Danny about this, the girls and I will make your life hell"

I placed my head into my arms and cried, I stayed at the park for hours, it was pitch black and freezing cold but I didn't want to go home, I sat there and stared into space, "Katie?" I heard, I looked around and saw Danny approaching me, I didn't say a word, "your mum called me, asking if you were with me... I told her you were, I figured you didn't want her knowing you were alone somewhere?" He said, "okay" I replied, he took a seat next to me and put his arm around me, but I pulled away, "what are you doing out here by yourself? It's dangerous..." He asked, I shrugged my shoulders, "please look at me!" He said, but I continued staring into space, "Katie, I love you, so so much but I've known my friends since we were 10, I can't lose them" he told me, "yeah, I get it. now leave me alone, please" I replied, "don't be silly Katie, I'll walk you home" he said, I shook my head and jumped up off the seat, walking into the blackness, "you could die out there!" He said as I walked away, "right now, I don't care." I replied and ran off into the night.

I returned home at 3am, "where have you been?!" My mum yelled as I walked through the door, "with Danny, you already asked him, remember?" I replied, "okay, I was just checking, please don't stay out that late, I was worried, you didn't answer your phone" she replied, "I know, I forgot it." I said and went into my room.

I checked my phone as I lay on my bed, '14 missed calls from mum, 3 texts from dad, and 1 missed call from Josh'
I called back, "hey Katie!" He said as he picked up the phone, "hey" I replied, "are you alright?" He asked, "no" I told him, "well, tell me all about it" he said, I spent the rest of the night talking to Josh, at first I was worried about telling him what was wrong, I knew he hated Danny, but he seemed okay with me talking about it, and he really helped me take my mind off it.
