Chapter 12 - Dating Danny

I woke up a few hours later, I rolled over to see Danny laying next to me,
"good morning" he said, even though it was late afternoon.
I rubbed my eyes, and rolled back over, "it's too bright" I groaned, he laughed and closed my curtains, "how's your head?" He asked, I tried standing up but became dizzy and had to lay back down, "I guess that answers my question" he said.

I needed to tell him about Josh.
"Danny... Josh has gone back to Australia." I said
I rolled over and looked at him, I could tell by the look on his face that all he wanted to do was jump up and down and yell "I win" but knowing that'd hurt me, he stayed quiet.
"That's why you went to the club?" He asked, I nodded, which was probably a bad idea because it hurt my head a lot.
He put his arms around me, "in that case, I want to take you on a proper date" he said, he jumped off my bed and sat at my desk, "can I use your laptop?" He asked, "go for it" I replied.

Going on a date with Danny didn't seem right, and I wasn't really sure I was up to it, but maybe it'd take my mind off Josh, plus, I did call him my boyfriend when I was too intoxicated to even stand, that's got to mean something right? Anyway, maybe I'd even have fun.

Danny spun around in my office chair, facing me, I sat up, "I have the perfect plan!" He said "tomorrow morning, you me and are going to get pancakes from a cute little cafe, then we're going to go to the aquarium" he sounded excited, so I smiled and nodded, laying my head back down.
Josh never made plans for us. Whenever I asked him what he wanted to do he would say "I don't know, you pick" and then we'd just end up going to the beach. I loved the beach but going there almost every single day because he didn't know what he wanted to do was boring. So it was nice having someone make plans for a change.

Danny went home later that night.
My head still hurt, and I was so bored. I got up to get my laptop, and brung it back to my bed, I opened Facebook, and the first thing that popped up was a post on Josh's wall, from Jessica, my old best friend.

Josh, I'm so sorry to hear about you and Katie. I can't believe you went all the way to England for her, and she didn't choose you. What a bitch.
Beach tomorrow? xo

I can't believe she called me a bitch, my entire group is probably meeting at the beach tomorrow, just to gossip about me.
The next thing that came up was Josh changing his relationship status to single. That hurt, a lot. But it was my fault. I had to deal with it. The best thing to do was delete Josh, and all my old friends. Or even better, make a new account. So that's what I did. When I finished, I went to sleep.

I woke up to a knocking on my bedroom door, I opened it to see Danny standing there. "Forgetting something?" He asked, I stood there confused for a while, trying to think of what I'd forgotten, but then it hit me, "shit! Pancakes!" I said, I rushed to my closet and grabbed some clothes, and got dressed, forgetting Danny was standing in the door way, "wow" he said, I went red, but continued dressing.
After quickly putting on some makeup, and doing my hair, we left.

As we walked to the café, he held my hand, and held me close. I felt safe, I felt like he wanted the world to know that we were together, it was nice.
Josh never really did that, well, not in public anyway.
"So, what's your story, Danny? I want to know everything" I said, smiling. He told me everything, I loved listening to him speak, especially about things he loved. He told me the good and the bad, then I did the same.

We arrived at the café, he rushed around and pulled my chair out for me, I giggled "a true gentleman" I said is a sarcastic posh accent, he laughed and sat down.
"Katie... I need to ask you something"
He said, my heart started beating abnormally fast, these kind of questions always made me nervous, "what is it?" I asked, politely.
"Those cuts on your arm... Do you always do that?" He asked me.
I shook my head, "I was pretty depressed, I felt so alone, I'd heard of people doing that and I thought I'd give it a go, some people say it makes you feel better, but it didn't, it was just bloody and painful, I don't ever plan on doing that again, don't worry" I replied, he smiled, "good! Because I couldn't handle losing you, I was scared you'd do it again and accidentally hit a vein." He said.

We finished breakfast, then caught a bus to the aquarium. He held my hand as we walked through, it was pretty, a lot prettier than the aquarium in Sydney. There were a lot of different creatures here, I loved it. It was the perfect date. Before we left the aquarium, Danny bought me a stuffed toy whale. The whole day made me forget about what'd happened with Josh, and although I regret hurting Josh, and leaving him like that, I think I'm meant to be with Danny.
