Chapter 4 - Complications

I woke up Saturday morning with 15 missed calls from Josh, I quickly called him back but it went straight to voice mail, so I left him a message.

"Hey Josh, it's Saturday for me, so call me whenever, sorry I've been missing your calls, you keep calling when I'm at school or asleep. I'll have my phone with me all day, so please call back as soon as you get this" I paused for a few seconds "I... I love you.."

I sat on my bed in disbelief, why did I pause before saying that I loved him? Why did I stutter? There's no way I was falling for Danny! I love Josh!

Suddenly my phone rang, I quickly answered, but before I could even say hello he started to yell, I pulled the phone away from my ear, I thought he might burst my eardrum;
"KATIE, WHO THE HELL IS DANNY?"

"Chill! He's just a friend from school!" I replied "I'm sorry if it worried you" I said. "It's okay baby, sorry I yelled, I was just scared" he told me.
We talked almost all day, it felt like I was back in Australia living my normal, good life.
At 4pm my mum made me and my dad go to our next doors neighbours get together, to get to know the people in our neighbourhood. Josh and I said goodbye and I was back to reality, boring, cold, depressing England. I follow my parents next door.

As we entered their garden, I saw Danny sitting by the pond, I rushed over and scared him from behind, "KATIE!" He yelled as he smiled and hugged me, I laughed and we sat by the pond together, we talked the entire time, it was nice. That was, until I got another call from Josh

"Hello?" I answered

"Katie, it's Josh. I was listening to the voice mail you left me again and I realised you paused and stuttered while saying you loved me.. Is everything okay?"

Before I could reply Danny's mum called him over, yelling "Danny, come and get something to eat" Danny replied "coming mum" whist sitting right next to me

"Oh, now I understand." Josh said
"No, Josh, I.." Before I could explain, he hung up on me. I then got a Facebook notification saying 'Josh Willis has changed his relationship status to complicated' I felt like screaming, there was only one way to fix this mess.

Danny came back over and asked what was wrong, I told him that he needed to stop talking to me, and I immediately walked back home. I felt horrible. Everyone at my new school ditched me besides him, and I was so mean to him. But there was nothing else I could do, I couldn't lose Josh.

That night before bed I deleted Danny from my Facebook, then messaged Josh;

Josh, I am so sorry. There's nothing going on between me and Danny, I didn't mean to stutter when I said I loved you, I've told Danny we can't be friends and I've deleted him from my Facebook. Please call me. I really do love you.

I went to sleep, hoping everything would be okay in the morning.
That night I had a dream, I was on a beach, watching the sunset with a boy, we loved each other.
I woke up that morning, smiling because of my dream, but that smile quickly faded when I realised the boy in the dream wasn't Josh... It was Danny.
