Our new house was terrible. I hate it. There's no carpet, it's freezing and it's so dusty. It looks like an old haunted house, I wouldn't be surprised if one of us gets possessed in here, but I faked a smile and told my parents I liked it.
I decided to set up my room straight away, hoping it'd take my mind off my first day at my new school. I've moved schools before, but moving from an Australian school to and English school is different, and a whole lot scarier.

"KATIE, YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" My mum yelled, I woke up, confused, and looked at my clock, 6:30am, shit! I must've fallen asleep! I quickly got ready, making myself look nice, so I could at least make a good first impression, although, I'm not sure how long that'll last.

I stared out the window for the whole car trip, I was so nervous. "Katie, I know you wanted to stay in Australia, but you may as well take this opportunity as a fresh start, make some new friends, maybe you'll even like it" my mum said.
"I will, bye mum" I said as I got out of the car.

My heart hurt from beating so fast as I approached the front gate, "you can do this" I whispered to myself as I entered the school. My year advisor showed me to my class and sat me next to a girl who was going to show me around.
"Hi, I'm Katie" I said as I sat down next to her, she looked at me as if I'd offended her and kept quiet.

The bell rang and I followed the girl I was sat next to out of the classroom, she turned to me and said "are you just going to follow me around all day?"
I looked down and walked the other way, I had no other choice than to sit by myself at lunch, I've never been so embarrassed, but soon a girl sat next to me, "hey! I'm Ally" she said as she smiled politely. "I'm Katie" I said, faking a smile.

"I saw you in my class" she said "Cassidy was meant to show you around right? I saw her ditch you. Don't worry, you can hang out with me and my friends, come on, I'll introduce you!" I followed her to her lunch table, she introduced me to her friends, Bella, Lilly, Emily, Cassie, Daniel and Brendan. They were all nice, but didn't really seem like my sort of people, but it was better than sitting alone.

After school, while I was waiting for my mum to pick me up I heard a voice from behind me "hey! You were sitting with us at lunch right? I didn't get your name" I turned around to see Daniel standing behind me, I shouldn't be saying this because I have a boyfriend but he was so attractive, he had dark brown hair, brown eyes and tanned skin, and his smile was amazing.

"I'm Katie" I said quietly "hey Katie, I'm Danny" he replied, he smiled at me as he got on his bus. I guess hanging out with Ally and her friends wouldn't be so bad after all, I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing Danny every lunch and recess.

I got home to a lot of Facebook messages, mostly my old friends asking how my new school is, and family members asking if I'd arrived safely, but then I saw a message from Josh;

Hey baby, how was your flight? Tell me all about England and your new house and your new school! Have you made any new friends? I miss you so much, it hurts. I'll call you tonight. I love you!

It was so good hearing from Josh, I told him all about my new school, and how much I hated my new house and how much I missed him. He called me that night but it was early hours of the morning for me and I was asleep, as soon as I woke up I tried messaging him, but he must've been asleep. This is going to be harder than I thought.

That morning I decided to walk to school, and get to know the area. About half way to school I heard someone calling my name, I turned around and Danny was walking behind me, he jogged to catch up. "Good morning Katie!" He said, "morning" I replied.

It surprised me how easy it was to talk to Danny, the whole way to school we talked about Australia and my old friends and he told me all about England.
We said goodbye as we went into separate classrooms.

That morning, at recess I approached Ally's table, the group was huddled together and seemed to be whispering, "Hey guys" I said, they all turned and looked at me silently, Ally stood up and said "Katie, I'm sorry, but we don't think you should hang out with us anymore, people have been saying you're, well, kind of weird."

I slammed my tray of food onto their table and shoved past Ally as I walked out of the cafeteria. I hate her! I went to the bathroom and sat in a cubicle for a while "don't cry, don't cry, don't cry" I repeated to myself.

That afternoon as I was walking out of the school gates Danny ran up to me "hey, Katie, I..." I interrupted before he could finish his sentence, "don't talk to me" I said as I continued walking, he grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back "screw them" he said "I don't care if they think you're weird! People suck. I like you, just hang out with me at school okay? Just you and me." I smiled and replied "okay, thankyou. It sounds like a plan" and I continued walking home.

I was actually disappointed that it was the weekend, I was excited for Monday, spending the day with Danny, just me and him.

That afternoon I got a Facebook notification, "Danny Reyes sent you a friend request" I accepted immediately.
We messaged each other for hours, talking to him made me forget all about what happened at school earlier today, and that I'd moved half way across the world, leaving everyone and everything I'd known, I couldn't stop smiling.
