Rochelle stepped into her first period class, nervous and weak from the anxiety she felt. It was a sinister gardening class, set to help students identify the good and bad monstrous plants.

Rochelle looked over the class, searching for a place to sit beside someone that, preferably, seemed friendly. She didn't find any, but the seat beside you didn't seem too bad. She cleared her throat and made her way over to your table.

She sat her things down before she slid the chair out from underneath the table. You eyed her from your notebook, which had a small doodle in the corner. After watching her for a bit, you decided to focus on your own papers.

Rochelle felt her face heat up. You were gorgeous! How did she get lucky enough to sit beside you?

She glanced at you a final time before opening her own notebook.

"I-I really like your earrings." she complimented, glancing over at the shiny sunflower earrings that dangled from your ears.

"Thanks." you gave her a closed lipped, yet genuine, smile. "I like your dress."

He felt her face heat up again. "Thank you."

You nodded, not taking the time out to say anything more to her. She felt neglected by you, your attention seemed too far away for her to grasp. It still didn't seem to phase you.

Rochelle cleared her throat and attempted to start up another conversation. "Do you know what we do in this class? Is it easy?"

"Well, it's a little easy as long as you know what's going on." You sighed, still not looking up at her.

Rochelle whined a bit and settled down in her seat as the teacher entered the room. She felt less than you, almost nothing compared to your beauty and aura. You played hard to get, and Rochelle loved a good game of catch. If you were the prize, she'd gladly play whatever game you set up.

And she'd win. She knew she would.

You frowned as the lecture started. The information the teacher gave out was being absorbed but not appreciated by you. you looked over to Rochelle, who seemed to be way too deep in her own thoughts to understand a single word coming from the teachers mouth.

But it wasn't your fault! You didn't do anything! But maybe if you were just a bit more open...

No!

You shrugged. she didn't seem like a slacker to you, just an overly emotional girl who couldn't figure out her teenage years. She seemed a bit dramatic to you though, but guilt weighed that thought out of your mind.

You tried your hardest to focus again, but your attempt was interrupted by quiet sobs that came from the girl beside you. You watched as she stood up and left the room. Guilt tugged at you even harder than before.

You contemplated talking to her again, though you really didn't want to. You heaved a sigh and turned back to her. She tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear.

Once the teacher stopped talking, you cleared your throat.

"So.." you mumbled.

Talking to others, especially people your age, was never your strong suit. Venus was your only friend because Venus reached out to you first.

"So!" Rochelle turned to you with a bright, flashy smile. "What's up?"

You shrunk back, and Rochelle did the same. "Sorry for me being loud." She hummed.

"Oh, it's no problem." You gave her a soft grin. "Do you understand the lesson?"

"A little." She hummed. You nodded.

"I can always help."

Your offer sent her flying down a blushing, hyperventilating mess. "U-Uh...yeah!! Sure!"

"Cool. What do you not understand"

Rochelle shrugged. "I'm not sure. I don't even know what I don't know!"

"Hey, no shame." You assured. "I can help you. I love plants."

"Do you?" She smiled. "What kinds do you like?"

"All of them." You hummed. "But my favorite is Pinguicula Vulgaris."

Rochelle's face contorted, and in an instant you knew she was confused. You mentally felt drained by your extroverted conversation, but you tried your hardest to continue.

"It's a Common Butterwort. It's a carnivorous plant, but it looks so pretty!"

"So it eats meat?"

"Well, some plants do, and they also eat bugs!"

She nodded, jotting down the information. You blushed. No one had ever allowed you to ramble about your interests before, and having an available ear helped with your anxiety a lot. She didn't seem judgemental or disapproving. She seemed genuine and interested.

"Mine is roses. My boyfriend used to plant them for me all the time!"

You furrowed your brows. "Used to?"

"Yeah." She sighed. "We broke up when I moved here. I'm originally from Scaris."

"Oh. Do you have any friends here?"

"A few." She nodded.

"Okay. Well, would you like to go with me to Witches Brew Coffee? We can get some good snacks there too." You offered.

Her face lit up in a blush. "Sure!"

"Good. After school?"

"Yep!"

You chuckled. "It's a date then."

Rochelle's mind came to a halt. A date? You meant a real date? Or maybe it was just a metaphor? It felt like a real offer! But was it?

"Sure! It's a date." Rochelle confirmed.
