Together, you and Rochelle made your way out of the school building and to the woods, then to the street. You and Rochelle grinned at the passer-by's, knowing that they had no idea about you skipping class. Rochelle felt ecstatic. You and her skipping class? That felt like a dream come true.
Anything that involved you seemed to be too good for her to handle. She felt her body heat up and almost vibrate with the love she held for you. Normally, her crushes wouldn't last. But this? No, this was something she was sure to treasure. You were something she was sure to treasure. You were almost too perfect, something she had rarely seen.
"So, I was thinking we could go to Witches Brew and get a coffee." You hummed. "What do you think?"
"I think that's a wonderful idea." She clapped, a bright red blush on her cheeks. You chuckled at her excitement.
As you two were walking, a small flower shop in an alleyway caught your attention. You looked at the name. Blooming Blaire's.
That was something you'd have to remember. You had never paid attention before, but you finding the shop felt like a dream come true.
Rochelle could say the same about walking next to you.
Finally, you made it to the small coffee shop. It was packed full of monsters you didn't recognize, leaving you in sensory overload from all of the information given to you at once. You squeezed through people to get in line. Rochelle noticed your tapping feet and itching hands, but didn't say anything as the both of you slowly moved upwards in line.
She giggled at you. You were so cute! Oh, how she wished she could just capture the moment and keep it forever.
Wait.
Rochelle pulled out her camera and angled it perfectly behind you. You didn't pay a bit of attention as you looked straight ahead, not wanting anyone to notice you amongst the crowd.
Her camera made a loud shutter sound, and you turned to face her. You squinted your eyes as Rochelle angled her phone at the menu, falsely leading you to believe her innocence.
You shrugged. She must've just wanted to look over it later.
After ordering, you two left the shop all together, not wanting to sit in a crowded area and chat. The two of you walked side by side once again, this time with her on the inside and you against the road. She smiled at you.
"This coffee's really good." She noted, taking another sip of her drink.
"Yeah, it's my favorite place to get coffee and breakfast from." You grinned, reminiscing on your life before meeting Rochelle. "There's so much I'd like to tell you one day."
"Well, why don't we start here?" She asked. "Have you been in any relationships?"
You giggled. "Oh yeah, I have this one on and off one. We get together for a few months, break it off for a few months, repeat the cycle, you know how it goes." You dismissed it with a wave of your hand. "But I'm over them now. I don't have them holding me back."
Rochelle's stomach twisted in agony. You had been in love? Like, really, truly, strongly in love? And she wasn't the one you loved? To Rochelle, it was a kick in the gut and a knee to the jaw. A world of color and people and invention, and you chose someone other than her?
Rochelle didn't focus on it too long, however, and she gently brushed off those thoughts. If you said they were in the past, then they were in the past. No need to get upset. No reason to hurt.
But she did. And she couldn't quite place her finger on why. Why did it bother her so bad? Why did you having another love make her ache so bad? Why did her heart feel like it was being squeezed?
Rochelle crouched to the ground in pain, whimpering out from the effect it held. You fell with her, desperately trying to figure out what was wrong.
"It hurts." She cried out. "My-My chest! It really really hurts!"
"Oh my God!" You screamed, and you ran your hands through your hair. "What's wrong? What's going on? Is it a heart attack?!"
You cradled her close, and almost instantly her pain went away. She heaved a breath and let the tears roll down her face. She loved the attention, finding it much easier to breathe when she got what she wanted. Your hand ran up and down her arms in a soothing manner. You couldn't believe it! She was having heart problems as a teenager!
You blinked as she cuddled up against you. Luckily you were tucked away in a nearby alley. Right beside Blooming Blaire's, to be exact. You sighed.
Your day wasn't going as planned. But then again, when did it ever?
