You waited at Rochelle's locker after school, not wanting to seem like a stalker for waiting at her class. You tapped your foot patiently, watching as her pink hair slowly came into view. She gave you a bright smile and a wave, which you returned with a smile and a wave of your own. She slipped up to you and threw her arms around you in a hug.
She unlocked her locker and shoved her books in, not caring much for order and cleanliness. You looped your arms with hers and led her to the school entrance and exit.
"You ready?" You asked.
She nodded. "Let's go to my house!"
You smiled. "To change, right?"
"Yep!"
You followed her to her house and waited outside as she threw on a sweater and a pair of black jeans. Then, she came outside and linked arms with you again.
As you walked, a thought popped in your mind.
"So.." You began. "You get attached easily, right?"
She nodded. "I admit, I do."
"So, are you just going to ditch me after you're done?" You asked.
She turned her head sideways. "Huh?"
"You move on fast. Am I temporary? What are your intentions with me?"
She blinked. You could practically see the gears turning in her head. She smiled.
"I...I think I love you."
"Love me?" You asked, laughing at the thought. "We aren't even together."
"So? My feelings are my feelings." She pouted.
"That's true." You hummed. "You're never wrong for how you feel. But you are wrong for how you act on it."
"What does that mean?"
"It means, even if you feel like you love me, you can't just jump into a relationship with me."
"Why not?"
"Because, Rochelle. It won't work out if we move too fast."
"You're right..."
"Thank you." You replied.
The conversation stopped as the diner came into full view. You skipped excitedly towards Marge's Diner, pulling Rochelle with you as you giddily made your way to the doors of the greasy restaurant.
She looked around. She was used to fancy, high end restaurants in Scaris, not small diners that probably had roaches. But still, it was a good experience for her. This way she could see another side of you. Seeing more of you was always a good thing.
You led her to a seat and slid in. She did the same across from you.
Not long after, a man waiter came to the table.
"What can I get for you?" He asked.
You looked at Rochelle.
"I want a hamburger plate, and she'll have..." You looked at her patiently, waiting for her to answer his question.
"I'll have the same." She hummed.
"Awesome. My name's James, by the way." He sent you a grin. "I don't know if anyone's told you today, but you're beautiful."
You giggled. "Well, thank you."
Despite you being gay, any and all compliments were accepted and highly thought of. You felt a blush spread across your cheeks, drowning out your own skin tone.
Rochelle sat across from you with a pout, her lips curled down in a hatred filled tantrum. Once James had left, she raised an eyebrow.
"He's such a dick." She whined. "He doesn't know what he's doing."
"Why do you say that?" You asked.
"Because! I mean, just look at him! He doesn't get a thing right."
You smirked. "Are you...jealous?"
She felt the small pit of green envy rise to her chest, making her heart cramp up and ache from the strangulation it tortured her with.
"I am not!"
"You totally are." You giggled.
"No!"
"So if you're jealous, you must actually like me, huh?" You asked.
James brought out your drinks and straws before sending a wink your way. You shivered.
"I do. I really, really, really do!" She said.
"So, you'd want to be in a relationship with me?"
"Yes!"
You hummed and leaned forwards. "Kiss me."
"What?" Rochelle could feel her heart beat from her chest. Your directness was enough to take her off guard, and she fumbled with her words for a bit while trying to reply.
Without thinking, she leaned up and kissed you.
You smiled. "Yep, feels like girlfriend material."
"Huh?"
"Would you like to go out with me?" You asked, taking a sip of your drink.
She felt her legs shake like a dog's tail can wag. She jumped in her seat and smiled widely. She couldn't believe it!!! You wanted to be with her!! All her hard work was paying off!
"Of course!! Yes!!" She squealed.
You giggled. "Okay, okay!"
She leaned in to give you another kiss, then another, then another.
James brought out your food, and you both are without thinking much of anything else. Afterwards, you paid and you both began your long walk home. The sun had already started to set, leaving the sky in trails of orange and pink and blue. It swirled together, making the perfect scenery for your walk.
She laid her head on your shoulder and intertwined your fingers together. You gave her a small kiss on her forehead.
"You ready for school in the morning?" You asked. She shook her head no.
"I want to stay with you all day." She pouted.
You shrugged. "I'm sorry, but afterwards we can!"
She nodded. "Okay!"
You arrived at your house earlier than you expected, and you turned to tell her goodbye.
Rochelle watched as you walked away. Sure, she already had you as her girlfriend, but that wasn't enough. She wanted more. She needed more.
Rochelle pulled out her camera. Pictures were nice, but she still wanted more. She needed you at all times of the day.
She snapped a few pictures and grinned. They would do perfectly. At least they could hold her over until she craved more than those photos and the ones she already had tacked up on her wall. You were perfect. She wanted to be surrounded by you at all times of the day.
But she figured a picture or two would do until then.
