Phil, (Y/n), and Alan ran after Stu, who hadn't stopped to tell them what he was hurrying to get to. He kept yelling for a taxi as they reached the street, only stopping to let them catch up. Stu yelled at Alan to hurry up before climbing into the back of the taxi, the others soon joining him as Stu told the driver to head back to the motel where they woke up.
"Hey, you mind filling us in?" Phil requested once they were on the road, the open back of the taxi car causing the wind to blow by them quickly.
"Okay, now, when we woke up, the power was out," Stu began, pausing for a moment. "And you said you found Teddy's finger in what?"
"In a bowl of water," Phil answered, scratching his head, not seeing where Stu was going with this.
"But it didn't start out as water."
"No, it would've been ice," (Y/n) spoke up, trying to put the puzzle pieces together.
"Exactly," Stu pointed at her triumphantly. "Teddy got the ice from the machine, came back to the room, put his finger on ice, fell asleep. Now, what do you do if you wake up and you find your finger floating in a bowl of melted ice."
"I'd get more ice, Stu," Phil said matter-of-factly, before a realization hit him and he gasped, "on the fifteenth fucking floor!"
"Yes!"
"Wait, wait, spell it out for the slow ones here," (Y/n) said, shaking her head and looking over at Stu, still not knowing where the boy is.
"(Y/n), think about it. Teddy goes up, the power goes out-"
"Holy shit!!" Phil exclaimed, leaning back into his seat as (Y/n) gasped. "Of course!"
"Of course, he's in the ice machine," Alan said, but the other three shook their heads.
"Alan, no!" Stu said, but it was with a laugh at the excitement of his discovery.
"He's in the elevator! Oh, my God!" (Y/n) spoke up, her hand on her forehead. "Jesus, he's been stuck up there for almost two days! We gotta get him out."
As soon as the taxi stopped, they rushed out of the car and headed towards the door, Phil managing to find a crowbar along the way. They raced in, and looked up at the elevator. "It's on 10!" Phil stated, pointing up at the elevator dial. Looking to the man reading a newspaper at the desk, he asked, "Sir, is the elevator stuck?" He gave them an answer in Thai, so they looked at each other and raced towards the stairs. Hurrying up as fast as they could, they found the tenth floor where the elevator was stuck. "Ten! This is it! Teddy!"
"Teddy! Teddy!!" Stu screamed as he banged on the doors.
"Look out, look out!" Phil commanded, putting the crowbar into the doors and pulling them apart, before throwing it side once they wrenched it open.
When they pulled open the second door of the elevator, there lay poor Teddy on his side, the boys now screaming in joy as (Y/n) gave a sigh of thankfulness. "He's okay!" Alan said in relief, although (Y/n) wasn't sure if he meant it given that he wanted him out of the picture. But, seeing his face, he was genuinely happy to see Teddy, and she relaxed.
"Teddy, Teddy!" Stu said, the boy rolling over to face them all. (Y/n) could see the wrapped up hand where his finger must have been lost, and recoiled at the sight. "Hey, you okay? You okay, man?"
"Where am I?" he asked, disoriented, and started coughing.
"You're in an elevator in the middle of Bangkok," Stu told him, all of them unable to keep the big, dopey grins of their faces. "But we're gonna get you outta here. It's gonna be fine."
