Chapter 33 More secret sharing

Karim's POV

This was the most awkward meeting that I had ever had in my life, it was even more awkward then the time my aunt and uncle got custody of me. We were sitting in an awkward silence, across the room from each other. The room wasn't that big so it wasn't too obvious, but the intention was clear.

"I honestly can't stand this." Randall exclaimed and lifted his hands into the air. "We have to talk about something. Whether we're allied or not, the silence is deafening." I would've let a smile crack onto my lips if I'd known them for longer.

"What do you suggest Randall?" Beaumont raised an eyebrow at him. Moss and Tempest were currently out on patrol. I was expecting to hear them howling at any moment, telling us there was someone going to attack. "I'm sure your wonderful mind is full of topics."

"Probably." Randall shrugged. "What's your favourite food?" He gave a grin towards us. Emi snorted and hid her face in her hand. The question earned him a swift whack over the shoulder by his brother. "What? Food brings everyone together."

"He's not wrong." Beaumont pointed out. I also agreed with the comment, but I wasn't going to say anything.

"Actually useful topics of conversation?" Rhodes leant forward and rested her head on her palm. She was sitting next to where Beaumont was standing. "Like family, whereabouts, knowledge?" She raised an eyebrow at us.

"Someone's been spending too much time with Tempest." Beaumont's mutter reached my ears. Rhodes didn't do much other than look up at him. "Yes, those are good ideas."

"It would be extremely helpful to know." Lathen nodded. I frowned a little bit in confusion, Lathen felt like he was the alpha but he wasn't acting much like it.

"Maybe we should wait until the others are back?" Ralph fidgeted with his fingers. He had been doing that since Aiden and Harlow went with the children. I wasn't sure if I was doing anything similar, I was just extremely on edge.

"We would just have to repeat what we tell you." Emi nodded, the room fell back into silence for a bit before Abilene stood up.

"I'll go get them so we can get the important stuff out of the way." She started to head towards the door as noises of agreement erupted from the pack. I looked towards Emi, who shared the same uncomfortable expression that I had. I reached over and took her hand, moving so that not many could see.

After a few moments, Harlow appeared in the doorway, his hair was messed up and he seemed a lot more relaxed then he was outside. He headed straight over to us. His breathing was a little laboured as he sat down next to me. Aiden followed not long after, his hair not being as messed up, that was probably because it was shorter.

"So important adult information?" Harlow raised an eyebrow. I could tell he had a sarcastic comment brewing. "If that's the case, why am I here?" It caused a few chuckles but the seriousness of the topic was enough to weigh on the room.

"What information is the most important?" Eben raised his eyebrow as he turned towards us. "I feel like you would be the best judge for that." Emi shifted uncomfortably as I refused to move.

"I don't really know." Emi shrugged a little bit. "We don't know a lot about our family's intentions, other from what you've seen. We don't really know a lot about werewolves since we don't have a pack." Gasps erupted from around the room, I had to hold myself back from elbowing Emi in the ribs again.

"You don't have a pack?" Elowen said in a soft and sympathetic voice. I hated that tone. "How?" She wasn't expecting such horrific news, she felt sorry for the two teenagers who turned up without a pack. There is only destruction and heartbreak for any werewolf who doesn't have a pack. They would have lost their wolves, their family and their connection to nature.

"What?" Emi furrowed her eyebrows. "It's not that uncommon is it?" I had tried my hardest to avoid letting that information slip. It would just lead to more questions that we don't have answers to. Though, I wanted to be the one to tell her.

"Usually, when werewolves don't have a pack or alpha, it means the werewolves lose their wolf forms." I leaned on her slightly as I spoke with a slight heaviness in my voice. "We don't have an alpha, we should've lost our wolves a while ago." She turned towards me with the same confusion clear in her eyes.

"I thought that was just if you didn't use your wolf for ages." The humans had leant forward to hear the conversation better. "That's why we started going into the forest when you came to live with me. Mother and father wouldn't let us." She trailed off slightly as her eyes widened. "No-" I interrupted her with a nod.

"Yes." I cleared my throat and turned my attention ack to the rest of the pack. "Anyway, we don't really know a lot at the moment about the plans which include the forest. Though we're sure we know who's behind it." I looked towards Ralph. "Travis right?"

Ralph nodded as Hollis snorted. "He made it abundantly clear that he was involved." The rest of the pack nodded with uneasiness. "How do you know Travis? Since you don't know much about werewolf society." Emi and I shared a look before coming to an agreement, we had nothing to lose.

"Travis is close to our family." I rolled my eyes at Emi's words. "He's a pretty good businessman in the human world. He has a bit of a name for himself and it doesn't surprise me at all how he's managed to pull this off." I couldn't disagree.

"Really? He's not been there for too long though." Lathen questioned. "Nine years doesn't seem like long enough to do something like that." Nine years was oddly specific, the number sounded alarm bells in my head but I didn't know where from. "Any idea how he got such a following?"

I shrugged this time. "He must've gotten help from a human." It was the only possible solution. "We don't even know if he still has his wolf, I doubt it but you would never know." I shook my head. "There's too many possibilities."
