Epilogue Two

I know it was meant to be the best day of my life, but I was so freakin’ bored! It was half nine in the morning and we were waiting for the team of make-up artists and hairdressers get to me. They were doing my mother and Reagan – Poppy and Dean’s daughter now, then they were doing Mia and Yasmine and finally Me and Poppy.

We asked is Adam’s mother wanted to have her make-up and hair done but she said no and has spent all day in the traitor camp: the males. I know we didn’t see eye to eye on everything, but then again, who does get along with their mother-in-law. The answer was there before I even questioned it – Adam does. And Dean.

Boredom took over and I got up and snuck past everyone to try and find something to do for the next hour. We didn’t have to be at the church until half two, so we had plenty of time to get ready anyway. I wandered to the top of the stairs and peered left and right to make sure nobody could see me and make me go back in the room and sit down.

Before I even reached the bottom of the stairs I could smell the food wafting throughout the whole building, making the permanent smile on my lips even wider, I was so happy today; I don’t think anything could ruin it unless the worst happened and I have no doubts about that happening whatsoever.

I peered around the corner and saw Poppy with her back to me and a plate of sausage rolls by the side of the door. I tightened the white robe around my waist ready to pinch a few when she turned around and saw me, her eyes narrowed straight away and I knew there were no hiding from her, why I tried I have no idea.

“Miss Soon-to-be Barnes, what do you think you’re doing?” She shouted, making everyone else turn around and look at me.

I sighed as I made my way into the room with my head down like I was some naughty child that had been caught trying to steal an extra biscuit. She stormed her way over and after looking at her tapping foot for five seconds too long I glanced up and met her stern face. “Come on, what you doing?” She repeated.

“You sound like my mother.” I muttered.

“And if Char wasn’t getting her hair done, she would be saying the same, Georgie, it’s your wedding day, you should be upstairs with a glass of champagne and your feet up because come two o’clock you won’t be off them until at least midnight, so go upstairs, put some music on and I’ll come and join you in ten minutes after I’ve finished up here,” She spoke and I pouted.

“Can’t I stay down here with you? I have actually never been so bored, I’ve been waiting around on my own since eight this morning, all I want to do is help out.” I replied and she shook her head whilst pushing me out of the huge kitchen that we had rented for the day so that Poppy, Dean and company could do the food, which they are doing for free for a ‘wedding present’.

“No, I won’t be long now so go and relish it.” She ordered before giving me an extra push out the door and closed it fast, giving me a sarcastic smile through the window before turning around. I swear if she wasn’t my best friend and cooking my wedding food I would so put her face through the cake – I’ll still love her though.

I made my way up the stairs and as I entered the room, I noticed that I had only wasted fifteen minutes, which made me even more depressed. I hate not doing anything, it’s so annoying! I like to help.

“And where have you been?” My mother asked as she turned around in the chair, her eyebrow arched, but I ignored that as I looked at her. Her make-up was done perfectly and her hair was in soft curls half way down her back. She looked stunning, but then again, she was only forty-three.
