Chapter Twenty-Three
Georgie’s POV
I watched with Adam and Poppy as he pulled his car into the primary school and the relief that washed me was overwhelming. What the hell was he thinking?
Once he stopped, I rushed over to the car, opening Mia’s side, but he kept the door’s locked making me even angrier. I ran round to his side and banged on the window. “Open this door now Justin!” I shouted.
He shook his head but put his window down. “Hi mummy!” Mia cried happily, taking a sip of her fruit shoot.
“Hey baby, you okay?” I asked. If she said no then I am jumping into that car and breaking every bone in his body.
“Yeah mummy, daddy took me to Subway!” She replied, a huge grin on her face and I returned her smile just to keep her unsuspecting.
“That’s nice to hear.” I told her, still smiling for her sake. “Are you going to run to Adam while I talk to Justin?” I asked her and she nodded her head but Justin shook his head.
“Not happening.” He informed me before Adam wandered over.
“What’s happening here?” He asked angry.
“Adam Barnes.” Justin gritted through his teeth before winding the window up and I started to bash on the window again.
“Is she okay?” He asked and I nodded my head reluctantly. As hard as it was to believe, Mia looked like she really enjoyed being in his company, which was good to hear and see and heart-breaking because I don’t want her to be hurt after everything she has been through.
“Yeah, nothing’s happened.” I informed him, kissing him on the lips.
He smiled back, “I’ll go and tell Poppy what’s happened.” He told me before turning around. I bashed on the window and he wound it down again.
“Don’t let him come over here again.” He spoke mad and I just rolled my eyes.
“I don’t care what you want, let me take my daughter home and I won’t report you to the police.” I spoke but he shook his head.
“We’re meant to be together.” He informed me and I looked at him shocked.
“What? We’re meant to be together?” I laughed. “You have got to be kidding me right now. You cannot just come back after five years and expect nothing to have changed.” I told him like he was deluded which he was.
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “We are meant to be together, no one else, just us two.” He repeated and I shook my head smiling in a taunting gesture.
“No we don’t belong together. Just give me my daughter.” I told him more forcefully.
“Don’t be like this Georgie.” He whined. “We can be together, just believe in the idea more.”
I clenched my fists together, “I am never getting back together with you. It’s Adam, Mia and I. You don’t come into that equation.” I informed him.
His eyes flashed with anger before he got out of the car and stood up, invading my personal space. His six feet stature made mine look smaller than my five feet nine but I refused to feel intimidated by him. He grabbed my shoulders with his hands a little hurtfully but I just grin and bared it. “Justin let go of me.” I spoke calmly.
He didn’t release me but put less pressure on. “We can be together, stop being difficult.” Before I could say anything back, Adam was rushing over and ripped me out of his arms.
“Stay away Justin, you’re not needed. To everyone who knows Mia and Georgie, you’re just the sperm donor. You are nothing to anyone, so just go back to France and leave everyone alone!” He yelled and I heard Mia crying in the car so I ran around to her side and opened the door now that they were unlocked and brought her into my arms, hugging her.
“It’s okay now baby.” I cooed in her ears as I glared at Justin from over her shoulder.
“Can daddy live with us?” She asked between sobs and I stood still for a few seconds before brining myself back into the situation.
“No baby, Adam is going to be living with us.” I lied as I was walking further away from the shouting that Adam, Justin and now Poppy were doing.
She shook her head. “Adam is just a repacemunt. Daddy is back now.” She informed me and I sighed.
“Daddy was being bad and lied. Adam is staying forever,” hopefully.
She leant back in my arms, “really?”
I nodded my head and she gave a small smile making me happy as I wiped away the tears that had settled on her little cheeks. “Daddy is going away.” I told her and she looked confused.
“What do you mean?” She questioned as I sat on a wall, seating her on my lap.
“Daddy is going back to his camp as he isn’t ready yet,” I explained as best as I could and she seemed to understand.
“I love daddy.” She told me and I froze again. She loved Justin? Oh no, this is exactly what I didn’t want to happen. I didn’t want her to get attached to him, because what is going to happen everytime she hears a door go and she thinks it’s him and it isn’t? She is going to be so upset and let down. I never wanted that to happen.
“He loves you too.” I lied, I knew Justin, not so much recently, but I knew that he doesn’t like, never mind loves, Mia. That is a bit depressing seeing as she is telling me that she loves him. It just reminds me of me when I was younger and I can still remember what it was like and it wasn’t nice.
I got back up and wandered over to where the shouting had died down, which was good for Mia and Liam’s sake. I dropped Mia down onto the floor, “are you going to go and play with Liam?” I asked her and she nodded her head before running over to him.
I need to ring the police and tell them that we have found her; I’m not going to turn him in if he promises to just go away and stop interrupting us, so I wandered over to a quiet stop and informed them of what had happened.
I walked over to them, “Justin, I have just told the police that Mia had just walked out of the school when nobody was watching, so as a favour, please just go away, we have no chance and you can’t force me.” I told him and he stood thinking about it for a few moments.
“Why don’t you love me Georgie?” He asked and I sighed, is he really that deluded?
“Justin, you ran to France! France! When I told you about being pregnant, yeah I didn’t expect you to be happy, but you ran to a different country!” I told him exasperated.
“What did you expect me to do?” He yelled and I sighed.
“I expected you to be there.” I told him quietly while Adam brought me into the comfortable embrace of his arms.
Poppy gave me a sad smile before going over to Mia and Liam while the three of us stood. “If you care about me, you would just leave me to live my life.” I told him, playing the cliché card. I didn’t know what else to do though.
He seemed to be thinking about it for a while in silence before he got into his car and just drove off without another word. Wait, was that?
Adam looked down at me with a victory smile before kissing me on the lips. I grinned, knowing I wouldn’t be smiling for a while now. Because I know Mia would ask more questions and my mum would and Poppy and everyone else…
