Chapter Twenty-Four
It was 16th August and it was the day we all got our A-Level results, to say I was scared was an understatement.
It had been two months since Justin left and we haven’t seen or heard from him since. Even though Mia had only met and talked with him for just over an hour, she still cried every now and again for her daddy, but I think it was because all her friends had daddy’s and she had realised that Adam wasn’t her daddy. It was hard, but I think she has gotten over it now as she has retorted to calling Adam daddy again and I don’t correct her anymore. Plus Adam likes it, which is a relief.
I looked in the mirror at what I was wearing: dark blue skinny jeans, an off the shoulder purple top and some plain black flats. The weather said it was going to be sunny but cloudy. I was taking Mia with me, to show everyone at the college my daughter and inspiration because it is going to be the last time I am going to see a lot of them, including Rachel. I know she is a bitch, but since she got pregnant, she has just got a lot nicer, which is good to hear and see. Well actually it was more of a relief.
When I think back over the last year and everything that has happened, it’s nice to see that we came out of it stronger. I mean the car accident and Justin coming back, it’s weird because when Mia woke me up on that first day shouting about her tooth coming out, I would never have expected all of this happening. But I’m going out with Adam and Poppy found Dean and Mia is still happy which is great news because I’m having a year out to spend time with her and then going to University next year. The prices aren’t going to change from the steep one’s they are now so what’s the point? Mia is my priority, always has been and always will be. She needs me right now and that’s it. When I told the college about my plans they said that it was okay to do. Adam is going to University, but he’s going to the Central Lancashire one so he won’t be far away and Poppy and Dean don’t have to because of their course so it’s going to be nice to just have quality time with everyone I love.
I walked out of the room and went down stairs where Mia was eating her breakfast sat in front of the tele like usual. My mum was sat on the sofa with a cup of coffee in her hands. “You okay honey?” She asked with a warm smile.
“Yeah thanks, just a little worried over these results.” I laughed, after everything here I am worried over some results.
“I am sure you’ll get what you need, you always were a brainy child.” She told me laughing as well.
“Thanks.” I told her before walking into the kitchen and getting myself a cup of tea and a bowl of cereal.
I sat back down on the opposite sofa eating my golden nuggets, but only managed half a bowl full because I was too nervous and excited.
“Mia re you coming to college today with Mummy?” I asked her as I was putting her hair up after she had finished her breakfast and I had finished my brew.
She nodded her head, but I put it still whilst I put it up. “Yeah.” She squealed making me laugh.
“You might be there in eleven years.” I told her and it feels weird that just over a decade she’ll be doing her AS Levels and then her A Levels, it feels scary. Mia all grown up, wow, that’s an insight into life, because I know she isn’t going to end up pregnant, or I hope not. I want her to be able to live life full before having to worry about nappies and everything else. I know it’s what my mum wanted for me, but I was stupid. Anyway, I have managed to get my dream, or I’m nearly there. I mean I had two dreams, I know I wanted to become a dance teacher when I was younger, but when I started my GCSE’s I changed my mind and wanted to become a History Teacher in a high school, which I’m nearly there with that one and my second one was to have a family, which I have and I am so happy. Yes things like Mia being half blind and the fact that I’m eighteen with a five year old daughter aren’t ideal but I would never trade my life for anyone’s. Not even Danneel Ackles because I love how everything has pieced together in the end.
Adam arrived just before eight o’clock and so we all got in the car and drove to the College. I would have picked Poppy and Dean up but they were going together with Poppy’s parents.
The car journey was uneventful if you count my singing as normal, which the two of them should. I was happy and nothing could stop me.
“Do you think you’ve passed?” Adam asked as we were getting out of the car.
I shrugged my shoulders, “I don’t think I’ve done terribly, how about you?” I asked him as he held Mia’s hand, me holding the other.
“I should have.” He told me honestly as we wandered into the Millennium Centre where we were to get our results.
Rachel and her ever growing bump came up to us as soon as we stepped in and crouched down in front of Mia. “So is this the girl that is famous?” She asked smiling and I nodded my head.
“It is.”
“Hello Mia, I’m Rachel, one of your mum’s teachers.” She introduced herself and she looked up towards me.
“You have teachers?” She asked smiling and I nodded my head laughing.
“You don’t look like Miss Harris.” She spoke and we all laughed.
“Are we going to get your mummy’s results?” She asked ignoring her comment swiftly and she nodded her head so we all moved forward.
“I’m going to get mine.” Adam spoke and I nodded my head, still clutching Mia’s hand as we walked through the mass of crowds, following Rachel until she stopped at a table. She looked through various pieces of papers until she found mine with an ‘ah’. She handed me them and I looked over them:
- History – A
- English Literature – C
- Sociology – C
I was quite happy with them, plus I got my A in History which was what I had been aiming for over the past two years. I squealed and passed her the sheet of paper to which she smile. “Well done.”
“Thank you!” I cried before giving her an awkward hug and turning around to look for Adam.
He was standing near Mr Hampson who taught him Physics with a grin on his face. We exchanged papers and I wasn’t surprised at his results at all.
- P.E – A
- Physics – A*
- Biology – A*
- Maths – A*
Smartass. He was smiling at mine and I was grinning at his. “Well done!” I told him and he grinned before picking Mia up and giving her a sloppy kiss and then kissing me with Mia squashed between us. Nothing could beat this moment ever.
