Chapter Fifteen

Georgie’s POV

I was kinda worried about what is gonna happen now. I mean, I’m trying to protect Mia’s heart from him, but he always was one for not giving up on anything until he gets it and I think this is one of those times unfortunately.

After I let him out of the drive, I parked back into my drive. “Who was that mummy?” Mia chirped up from the back.

I looked round to her, “One of my old friends,” I told her smiling. Wow! That was an understatement.

She smiled so I got up out of the car, grabbing the McDonalds on the way then letting Mia out. She held my hand as I unlocked the front door, letting us both in.

I dropped my college bag to the floor as I wandered into the kitchen, placing the food on the table. “Mia, come and sit at the table!” I shouted to her seeing as she had walked into the living room to probably watch some Disney film that she has suddenly become infatuated with since the accident.

She slumped her way to the table, “Do I have to sit here mummy? I wanna watch Lilo!” she cried and I shook my head.

“No, you have to sit here sorry.” I smiled sadly as I watched her attempt to open her Happy meal.

I opened it for her and grabbed the chicken nuggets and chips out for her. I left the toy in there and placed it on the kitchen counter, to make sure she actually eats her food instead of messing with the toy, which she normally does.

I watched her as she smiled to herself happily as she ate her food. It made me only sadder, I mean she was being bullied at school because of something that wasn’t her fault and she can just wipe it away straight away, but what happens when she gets older and she starts to get depressed and lonely because of it?

I actually hate kids sometimes. They are a lot harsher than teenagers.

I sat down across from her and tucked into my own piece of heaven. I mean, who doesn’t like McDonalds? It’s like sex in your mouth. Wow! I didn’t just think that!

After we ate our food, I passed Mia her toy and walked her into the living room where she picked out Lilo and Stitch the movie…again.

She sat on the floor watching it, so whilst she had a distraction I started on my coursework. I opened up my laptop and grabbed my bags from college, pulling out the piece of paper that I had been given on Law and typed them into different task bars.

I opened up a word document and looked at the last task on the bottom of the page.

Why in Britain is the law so flexible in towns such as Burnley and districts in Manchester? Answer this question, using examples and your own knowledge.

I groaned as I re-read it. I mean, why? I don’t have a fucking clue! Is it because the police are lazy? No, I doubt that.

I typed the question in Google to get a load of random ideas. I typed the question on the top of the word document and just typed a page up about examples I had jotted down during class.

I saved it and decided to start on my English Literature and then my Sociology then my History…yay!

********

I cracked my knuckles to release the tension from my knuckles due to the amount of typing I had done. Mia had gone sleep hours ago. I glanced at the clock in the bottom right corner of my laptop to see it was half five. My mum should be soon home. Thank God! A bit of company.

I turned my laptop off and placed it on the coffee table for now, as I went in the kitchen to put the kettle on and make myself and my mum a brew.

I sighed as I waited it to boil. Why had Justin just turned up out of the blue? What was he playing at seriously? It does my head when I can’t protect Mia!

I hadn’t even realised my fingers were in a tight fist until I went to pick up the kettle and pour it into the two cups.

The front door opened, “Hey, I’m home!” my mum shouted as she closed the door. I winced.

“Mum, shhh! Mia’s asleep.” I hissed. My mother looked round the door and did a little ‘aww’ before walking into the kitchen.

“What’s wrong?” she asked as she picked up her brew and joined me in sitting at the table.

“I was in Law when I got a phone call from Mia’s primary school. She was getting bullied. And before you say anything, yes I shouted at them.” I sighed as I took a sip of my hot chocolate. It burned my throat slightly but I was too tired to even care.

“Oh, I never expected that! Why didn’t you ring me! College is really important!” she cried, looking worried.

“I know, but she’s my daughter and I have to take responsibility of her.”

"Maybe, but every mother needs help sometimes. You really need to stay in college Georgie. You need to get the good grades to go to university, you'll never do that by not going hardly. I know that Mia is important, but you have to look after yourself as well. Julie could pick her up," she scolded me.

"I don't think Julie would like to be in the same car with Mia again. She still blames herself." I reminded her and my mum's face fell.

"I know, I was talking to her yesterday, but you have to understand what I'm saying." she sighed, taking a sip of her brew.

"I know, I do." I told her, to keep her quiet and to change the subject.

I stood up and put my mug on the side as I had finished it, "so how was work then?"

"Interesting." she told me. She was a care worker in an old people home. She said it was torture, but she didn't have the same help as what I do so she couldn't go to college as well. It amazes me how she doesn't blame me at all!

"Always is," I smiled.

Hey (:

I was going to add something else onto this, but I decided to end it there with a little mother – daughter bonding (:

Sorry if it’s boring!
