Chapter Twenty – One
“It’s good to have you back.” Rachel commented as I sat down.
“It’s good to be back.” I replied honestly. Since I came back, she has been so much nicer, that at first it was hard to get used tom but I am so glad. The lessons are so much more enjoyable.
Mia is settling well into Primary School and Liam has kept to his promises well which is good to hear. He is such a cutie, I swear, when he is older he’ll be fighting the girls off.
Dinner came round quite fast, so I went and sat with Adam, Poppy and Dean and I just felt like a normal teenager with no worries. All it was were myself and my friends and boyfriend.
“Enjoyed this week?” Poppy asked as she took a bite out of her cheeseburger.
I nodded my head, “yeah I didn’t think it would be this simple, settling back into the routine,” I spoke honestly.
“I’m glad everything is normal.” Adam said and I nodded my head.
“Oh, how come Rachel is so nice suddenly?” I asked. It had been confusing me all week.
Poppy smiled, “she’s pregnant.”
“Poor kid.” Dean muttered under his breath and I laughed.
“I know yeah,” I added.
I grabbed my fork and tucked into my curry and chips while we talked about random stuff. “X Factor is on tonight.” Poppy squealed and I joined her.
“I know yeah, I’m so excited!” I joined. When X Factor was on, it told you that it was near Christmas and that your Saturday nights were back. Now I like the voice, but X Factor is still the best, even with its scripted conversations.
“Who do you think will win?” Poppy asked and I gave her a look of confusion.
“It’s not even started yet babe.” I laughed and she scowled.
“I mean, do you think it’ll be a boy, girl, overs or group.” She said like I was an idiot.
“Oh.” I answered. “I think it will be a girl. Well I hope so because all the boys fail miserably and it’s quite upsetting.”
“Aww is it? Do you want a tissue?” Adam teased and I glared at him.
“Shut up idiot, I get involved easily.”
“Really? I thought your Supernatural obsession was just a hobby,” he taunted and I carried on glaring at him whilst I finished off my food.
“And you’re not obsessed with United are you not?” I argued back.
A few moments of silence passed between us before he replied. “That’s different.”
“Is it? I mean you watch the same thing every week. Like I do. How is it different?” Poppy smirked and lifted her hand in a high five and I returned it. “Go on.” I pushed.
He frowned. “Football is better.”
“A bunch of people getting paid well too much just for kicking a ball. That’s better?” I asked incredulously.
“Well it’s not like you’re paying for his wage.” He muttered. “Don’t you like Football, Dean?”
“Yeah I suppose, but I prefer Rugby.” Dean spoke.
“That’s shitter.” Poppy laughed and I joined her.
“Why don’t we stop with the insults and just all eat our dinner?” Adam concluded, which meant I knew I had won, making my victory grin wider.
“You know I still love you, don’t you?” I asked as I kissed him in his lips.
“Do I?” He teased and I frowned.
“Don’t come over tonight then.” I pretended to be mad.
“What?”
“You heard me.” I ended before picking up my tray and placing it on the rack where the dinner ladies would pick it up and wash it. I told them thanks before walking back to the table. “I was joking.” I whispered in her ear before kissing him on the lips and then walking away to Sociology.
The rest of the day went fast, and before I knew it, I was walking to my car with Poppy, smiling at another successful day. I put my seatbelt in when my phone started to ring. I picked it up, not bothering to look at the caller ID. “Hello?”
“Georgie.” I groaned when I heard his voice, but kept it hidden as I got out of the car, telling Poppy I would be one minute.
Once I was safely outside I answered him, “what do you want Justin?”
“Nothing much, I just heard that you were trying to find a babysitter for Mia, I’m willing to help.” That information would have been helpful last week, even if I would have declined.
“I don’t need one anymore, she’s doing fine now.” I snapped.
“Oh please let me see her.” He begged and I shook my head.
“No. You know what happened with my dad. It’s not happening again.”
“I’m not your dad!” He shouted down the phone and that confirmed my answer.
“You gonna shout at Mia like that?” I hissed.
“No, because she won’t answer back.” He ranted and I laughed.
“She’s five not two, if she doesn’t like you she’ll tell you and I can guarantee that she won’t like you.” I spoke harshly.
“You don’t know that.”
“I know that she calls Adam her dad and I don’t correct her.” I argued back.
“But he’s not!” He yelled and I laughed.
“Bye Justin, please don’t call again.” I ended before hanging up and stepping back into the car.
Poppy look at me expectantly, “who was that?”
“Justin.”
“What does he want now?” She sighed angrily.
“He wants to see Mia again.” I told her honestly before putting the car into drive and putting Nicki Minaj – Pound the Alarm on full blast. “Let’s forget the knob!” I shouted above the music and she nodded her head in response before singing the lyrics with me.
Hey (:
I think my writer’s block has truly gone now, which is good news!
There should be 5-6 chapters left, so I am going to try and finish it before I start college on September 7th :)
Hope you have had a good holiday!
