"Well anyway when is the next time you want to hang out?" Jeremy asked as he handed me a napkin. "Thank you. I don't know. We could try doing pottery." I suggest. "That's too messy for me. I'm actually having a Netflix marathon on Sunday. You're welcome to come if you want." Jeremy said.
"As long as your comfortable. What are you planning to watch?" I hum. "Whatever catches my eye. With my clinic, I don't really watch TV." Jeremy mumbles. "Would you consider yourself a workaholic?" I ask him. "Yes. I'm actually planning to go visit my mom next weekend. My psychiatrist says I have to take care of myself before I try to take care of anybody else." He shrugs simply. "They're right. Self care is very important." I nod as my finger plays along his wrist.
"I know but I'm a people pleaser. I put everyone needs before my own and then I feel guilty if I take time for myself." Jeremy sighed as we got up to pay our bills. "What did I say before? No one expects you to be perfect. People relate to you because you've been through things like everyone else. Don't try to be something or someone you're not." I say to him as we walk down the street.
"Thank you Homer. I needed that." Jeremy smiled hugging me as we neared the park. "You're welcome. Have a good rest of your day Jeremy." I say pulling away from his touch. "You too." Jeremy smiled quickly kissing me on the cheek before walking towards his clinic.
Shaking my head a small smile of my face as I walk into my firm I see Maverick smiling like a person who just won the lottery. "What?" I glare at him as I scratch my beard.
"You seem so soft around him. Like a teddy bear." Maverick said squishing his face together. "Shut up." I growl at him. "But are you sure about this? You just got out of a marriage." Maverick said. "Maverick, I'm positive. At first I thought maybe I only wanted to fuck but it's deeper than that. He is invading my senses completely." I confess to him.
"Good because my Godfather has been through alot. He doesn't need nor want to be anyone's flavor of the month." Maverich sighed in relief. "Believe me I know. But what we do is no one's business." I shrug as Maverick rolls his eyes.
"You and your privacy. I've finished my work for the day so I'm heading out. Ma wants you over for dinner tonight she's cooking some easy gumbo." Maverick said. "Why are you telling me?" I ask him. "She may or may not have invited Jeremy tonight." Maverick shrugged smirking at me.
"You evil little shit. I want a seat beside him tonight. What time do I have to be there?" I smirk at him. "Six tonight. It'll just be you, Jeremy, Ma, and I. Says she wants to spend some family time together." Maverick hummed. "I'll be there at five thirty. How should I dress?" I asked him.
"Casual. You know Ma." Maverick hummed as he walked to the underground garage. Going inside the firm I nod as I see everyone diligently working on their next case. "Sir your back from lunch." My secretary said. "Yes. I'm leaving at five today. I have to be at my sister's tonight." I said. "Yes sir." They said as I entered my office getting to work.
****
"Sir it's fifteen minutes to five." My secretary said as they entered my office. "Thank you. I'll be leaving. Have a nice night." I say as I shut down my computer before leaving. Driving quickly to my house, my fingers taps the wheel anxiously.
I was excited to see Jeremy once again. Though I seen him during lunch, I'm always eager to spend time with him.
Arriving at home, I go straight to the shower stripping my clothes before stepping under the hot spray of water. Cleaning myself thoroughly, I sigh as I step out the shower. Getting ready putting on loose jeans and a plain white shirt. Getting to my car, I sigh as I drive to Geogia's place.
Her house was surprisingly in the country, it was a beautiful home. She inherited it from her deceased husband who died serving his country ironically. I believe that's how she and Jeremy became friends.
Parking in the driveway I see Jeremy's truck, getting out I wipe my hands on my jeans. Knocking on the door, Georgia swing the door open. "Oh my God. You actually came, you big lug!" Georgia said as she gave me a hug.
"Get off me woman." I say as I try to pry her off me. "Alright. Come in. Come in. I just started cooking." She said as I walked inside. Walking into the kitchen I see Jeremy getting peach cobbler and a scoop of ice cream.
"Isn't it bad to have dessert before dinner?" I smirk as he turned around staring at me like he had been caught. Jeremy stuck his tongue out to me as he walked towards the living room. Sitting down beside him, I lift his legs into my lap.
"Do you want some?" Jeremy said but I shook my head. Nodding I open my mouth, as he gives me some peach cobbler. "Thank you." I hum as I scratch my beard.
"Aww look at this Rick. Our favorite old people getting together." Georgia said as she smiles fondly at us. "First off, I'm still young." Jeremy chuckled. "Yeah the only old person in here is you." I join as I rub Jeremy's legs.
"Fuck you Homer. Anyway food is almost done." Georgia hummed glaring at me before she left for the kitchen. "For the record my mom is not old. She is just well seasoned." Maverick said as he sat down opposite of us.
Soon Georgia called us to the kitchen, feeling Jeremy grab my hand. "Let me make your bowl." He said and I followed his instructions as I sit. Watching as he came back sitting my bowl in front of me, "Thank you Jeremy." I say to him smiling.
