Silver was unbearably hot. His hair uncomfortably clung to his neck, and sweat was beginning to stain his black shirt. It didn't help that the sun was harshly shinning on them. The walk to the Ruins of Conflict was short, and Silver could already see the cave entrance up ahead of them. (Y/n) had kept her pokémon out and was carrying Togedemaru in her arms. Since she was slightly ahead of him, she probably didn't see how much he was being harmed by the weather difference.
With a stern bark, Lycanroc stopped in his path. Another bark sounded from her, alerting (y/n) of the situation. "Huh? Silver, you okay?"
He wanted to lie. In fact, that's what he intended to do, but the heat had muddled his thoughts making him desire nothing more than relief from the sun's assault. "No, not really. It's so hot out here," he admitted. (Y/n) sat Togedemaru down and approached him, reaching into her trainer's bag to pull out a hair tie.
"Hopefully this works." Silver froze as she reached out and pulled his hair away from his shoulders. Then she went behind him to pull the red locks into a ponytail, leaving some of his bangs to hide his face. He wasn't sure if she had done that on purpose, but he was grateful for it. "Here, this is my last one, but I'd rather you have it." She handed him a bottled water and picked up Togedemaru again. It was cool to the touch, perfect for alleviating the heat building within him. "We'll keep out of the sun for a bit once we get there so you can cool off," (y/n) assured before she began to lead the way once more.
"Thank you," he called after her. Lycanroc finally moved and let him pass. The rock type's concern for him reminded him of Mewtwo, making him wonder what had happened to his companion.
"Koko! I brought a friend!" (y/n) called into the vast cavern. Vines covered the walls on either side of them, but the path ahead was free of any blemish or vegetation of any sort. The ruins didn't seem very ruined at all. "He's very strick about letting others see him, but as long as it's me bringing someone, he'll at least appear for a moment," (y/n) said to Silver.
They followed the path into another door-like opening bringing them to an open area with what appeared to be an alter. There were shrubs surrounding the narrowed path and an intricate plant pattern fanned out behind the alter area. "It's really nice," Silver mumbled. Johto's ruins had been damaged as far as he remembered though the mysterious air of the place was familiar in both areas.
"Strange...he's usually waiting for me up there." (Y/n) suddenly flinched and backed away from Silver. He looked at her, puzzled by her reaction. "You're friend. That must be it. He's here isn't he. I felt it again," she spoke. Her voice was shaking and she looked at him as if he might hurt her.
"Mewtwo? He hasn't said anything." Silver looked around in bewilderment. "Mewtwo? Are you there? It's okay for (y/n) to see you. I think we can trust her."
"And that is the problem." It was the first time Silver had heard Mewtwo's voice ever since leaving Kanto. He sounded angry and threatening. "Since when do you trust in people?"
A flash of light appeared, shooting from the alter faster than the eye could see, but it was stopped as Mewtwo materialized in front of Silver to stop the attack. No, Mewtwo had already been standing there and simply revealed his presence. The two pokémon clashed briefly before Tapu Koko was thrown backwards by Mewtwo's force.
The pokémon was about to attack again, but (y/n)'s Lycanroc jumped between the pokémon to stop their fight. (Y/n) went to Tapu Koko's aid to check the deity pokémon for any major wounds. Tapu Koko was fine, but Mewtwo wasn't done. He threw Lycanroc aside with with a blow of psychic energy, knocking the pokémon into the surrounding bushes. "Mewtwo! Stop, what are you doing?!" Silver quickly moved to stand between Mewtwo and the path to (y/n).
