The next day, at lunch, Calum made a show of his shirt and his new-found knowledge of Green Day... Quite loudly, might I add.

"Alright, Calum, shut up," I finally muttered, jabbing him in the ribs. He pouted at me, and I resisted apologising and 'aww'-ing out loud.

"I didn't know that you liked Green Day that much, Cal," Michael randomly pointed out through a mouthful of pizza. Hunh, I didn't realise he had been paying attention.

"I do," Calum grinned, puffing out his chest a bit to show off his shirt.

"What's your favourite song?" Michael asked, and my heart swelled a little when Calum responded by naming my favourite song of theirs.

"Oh," Michael nodded, before grinning. "I love that song."

They spent the rest of the period talking about bands that I had told Calum about, and I spent it listening to Ashton's jokes and being annoyed at Calum. Why I was annoyed, I didn't know, but I didn't like it.

At the end of the day, I didn't want to wait for Calum. I made my way through the lobby and out of the school building, shoving my headphones into my ears and turning up the volume.

However, I had barely made it halfway to the subway station when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Calum looking at me, a confused expression on his face.

"Dude, what happened?" he asked, seeming incredibly concerned. "Why'd you just leave? I've been calling you name..."

"Oh, um, I just- I kinda figured you and Mikey would- I don't know," I shrugged, unable to come up with a decent excuse. I kept looking forward, ignoring the fact that he still had his hand on my shoulder.

"Come on, I know when you're lying to me," he groaned, but I just shrugged.

"I'm not lying, Cal. So you don't have plans?"

"No, I would've told you," he huffed, momentarily pausing to squeak at a dog passing by, before picking up the pace again. "D'ya wanna get ice-cream or something? I'm buying."

That made me smile, and I grinned at him. "Since you offered..."

"Glutton," he chided good naturedly, rolling his eyes at me. "I knew you'd be down for that."

"You think you know me now, hunh Hood?" I asked, nudging him, and he just laughed.
