a/n: wow this is the glamourised story of my life rn

Weeks. It had been weeks since my outburst, and Calum had followed my request. I never saw him anymore: in the morning and after school, I took a different route to the metro station, and during school, I avoided his gaze and sat at a completely different table during lunch. Ashton sat with me, and I felt bad for making him choose, but he always told me that it wasn't a big deal.

However, one day, while we were in full conversation about bass lines in ska songs versus indie songs, he suddenly stopped, frowning at something behind me. "So, um, don't look now, but Michael's coming our way."

I groaned, resting my head against our table. I didn't know what he could possibly want from me, after having avoided me for two weeks.

"Luke, we need to talk." His voice was firm. I didn't like it.

Reluctantly, I got up from my seat and followed him out of the cafeteria and into the hallway, where he turned around to frown at me, arms crossed disapprovingly on his chest. With the leather jacket, the purple hair and the eyebrow piercing, he could almost have passed off as intimidating.

"What is it?" I asked, and he sighed.

"You need to talk to Calum."

"What?!" I asked, frowning. This was not what I had expected. "What do you mean?"

"He's been driving me crazy these past few weeks. All he ever fucking talks about is you!" Michael's voice was free of anger, which confused me a little. He seemed almost... Happy? Fond? Amused? "I suggest we watch a movie, and it's like 'This is Luke's favourite movie'. We go out to get ice cream, 'Luke's favourite is cookies and cream'. We go for a bloody picnic, and 'Luke and I used to come here all the time as kids'. He misses you, man! Just go say hi or something, get him to stop going on and on about you!"

I blinked, not knowing what to say. How was anyone supposed to respond to that? "Uh, I'll- Think about it? I guess?"

Michael rolled his eyes. "What did you guys even get into a fight about?"

I gulped, fiddling nervously with my Distillers shirt and trying to maintain eye contact. "Something- something dumb."

"Did he say something, do you want me to talk to him?" Michael's green eyes were full of concern. I had to look away, out of fear of the guilt chewing me up. "Luke, you know we're still friends, right? Me dating Calum doesn't change that..."

"I know, thanks Mikey," I sighed, biting at my lip ring. "But other things do," I added on silently, low enough for only me to hear.
