a/n: this chapter is a bit short but I might double update!

The rest of the concert was bizarre, almost surreal. He had stayed with me after that, and was acting like it never even happened, which didn't make sense. He kissed me back. He allowed it to happen. What did this mean?!

Needless to say, when we finally found Michael after the show, things were beyond awkward. Calum had his arm around him and his face nuzzled into his neck, and all I had was jealousy and confusion.

"I'm gonna go home with Mikey tonight, Lukey," he informed me as we stepped into the cool night air, a big relief from the stuffy venue. "You and Ash could walk together, yeah?"

I looked at him, trying to detect a hint of... Well, anything, in his eyes, but to no avail. He had completely brushed the whole thing aside, and I didn't know why that hurt as much as it did.

"That's fine," I murmured when I realised my two friends were awaiting an answer. It's not like Ashton and I lived in completely different areas, or anything...

I watched the two of them walk away, my shoulders slumped. Right now, I just needed to find Ashton so I could talk to him... And maybe convince him to let me sleep over, because I really didn't feel like taking the metro at this time of night.

Ashton frowned, taking the spoon of ice cream out of his mouth before asking, "So he just made out with you, then ditched?"

I sighed, shaking my head, which was starting to get dizzy from behind upside down. I had it hanging off the edge of Ashton's bed while my legs were up against the wall. "No. He stayed with me after that, which is why it's so much more confusing."

"Well, I don't know what to say, man," Ashton shrugged, practically licking the tub of ice-cream he was having clean before throwing it out. "Maybe he's still trying to figure it all out."

I groaned, finally moving my head to put it on the pillows. "That's not helping me, Ash."

"Look, I don't know what to tell you," he sighed, biting his lip.

"It's gotta mean something, right?" I asked, and we both knew I wanted to hear a lie.

"Yeah, of course," Ashton complied, and I silently thanked myself for not having all that terrible friends after all.
