Ch. 29: The Raid

" Ahhh~ Finally, relaxation. " Y/n muttered as he dipped in the hot water. " You really love it here huh? Man, I wish I had the same mindset as you sometimes. Either way. What are your plans for now? " Kazuma asked as Griffon and Shadow came out and the latter dipped and played around in the water.

" We plan to go back to Axel in weeks. I think the deeds we did as Devil May Cry will be enough as evidence. If not... Then we will just destroy the succubus inn as more proof. " Griffon declared as Kazuma tensed up.

" I am joking! I wouldn't want to ruin the boys' fun! However! If ever we heard you got hurt or anything, we would not hesitate to commit Rip and Tear Until It's Done on the whole in after leaking the info to Sena the Edgeworth Prosecutor. " Griffon grimly said and Kazuma was more scared and Griffon laughed.

" Hahahahaa! Don't shit yourself from that fact! Anyway, just relax in here for now. Don't think of anything. " Griffon said as Kazuma glared at the avian familiar before submerging all the way until the water reaches his chin. " Ah! Y/n you're already here! " a voice that sounded like Wiz shouted and entered.

" Welp. Looks like I am leaving then. " Kazuma told Y/n and left the baths.

" Sorry if I am late... I should make this up to you... " ' Wiz ' told Y/n as Kazuma noticed a shadow like sword from her hand. Before the fake lich could do anything, a roped spear pierced through the faker's chest.

" GET OVER HERE! "

Kazuma shouted as he threw the faker outside the building. ' That was a lucky shot... If she was on guard for me and didn't know I improved my stats, she would've reacted fast and cut the spear. Either way, the only thing I needed was to alert Y/n so failure and success didn't really matter. ' he thought as Y/n slowed down time and rushed to get his clothes.

Time resumed back to it's normal flow as Y/n then was alerted of movement and pushed Kazuma aside, clashing blades with the faker, now revealed as Alicia. Using the Sparda, he threw her off and then changed to Mirage Edge. " You've improved. That damage would've killed an average demon. Trained by Dante perhaps? Has your previous deaths finally drove you to finally step up your game? " Alicia taunted as what she said took attention of the Dark Angel.

" Previous deaths? No, that isn't the matter now. How were you able to imitate Wiz? What did you do to her? " Y/n asked as he pointed Sparda's blade at her. " Well then... What do you know about Shang Tsung? " Alicia asked as if she was doing a riddle as Kazuma answered with,

" We do... Why? "

Y/n kept silent and then swung the sword in a savage arc. A shadow armor shrouded Alicia and grabbed the Sparda blade. " Whoa there... I guess having someone you love hurt must be infuriating huh? " Alicia taunted as power was flowing into Y/n more and more.

" Don't worry... I haven't killed her completely as Dante stopped me... Although, she IS in critical condition!

You will join her in my collection of souls once I am done with you. "

Alicia grimly announced as dark power pushed Y/n off. " Griffon, Kazuma. Find Wiz and treat her lost energy. I'll handle Alicia. " he said as Kazuma ran off with Griffon. " You two won't get away! " Alicia shouted as black liquid matter tied her up.

" You will join me in hell! " Y/n declared as they both sunk down in the depths of the liquid matter, revealing to be Nightmare as the two were swallowed in.

A distorted version of the town appeared before them as darkness finally waned. Eerie screams could be heard as Alicia rose up as well as Y/n. " So you chose this place to die... Not a bad place. " Alicia sarcastically complimented as buildings shattered from the dark matter.

" I liked the Limbo's design and besides... I have the home advantage here... Prepare yourself! " 

Y/n told Alicia and then clashed blades with her. Shockwaves of power are felt as the two battled, uldcausing the whole environment to shake. Y/n then swapped to Beowolf and tried to disorient Alicia with fast and precise strikes with a weapon Y/n is familiar with. With the final strike of Kick 13, he had hit the lower part of Alicia's helmet, causing it to crack.

By instinct, Y/n stepped back. Something out of fear made him go back and prepare Sparda again. " You seem to be scared of something... You stepped back instantly when you cracked my armor. " Alicia told Y/n as if she knew what he was afraid of.

" My armor... Perhaps are you afraid of being outclassed in speed? Well then, Undo Armo- "

" Quicksilver! "

Slowing down time Y/n took this as a chance to attempt a finishing strike as fast as possible, using Beowolf and his incomplete Devil Trigger(due to still being in Reagain to break down every single bone in Alicia's body to immobilize her, but made sure to keep her alive. After 5 seconds of blunt force of attacks, he turned back, reverting back to his human form and walked away.

" Time will resume it's normal flow once more. "

Cracking could be heard as Beowolf's strikes finally took effect. ' There was only a matter of time... If I hadn't reacted this fast, I don't know if I could return safe and sound if I prolong the fight and taking off Restraint Level Zero will take 20 minutes on my own. ' Y/n thought as he turned around, surprised to only see shards of armor and no body or trace of Alicia was found.

He then felt movement and suddenly turned around, he was shocked as a blur was about to strike him and tried to summon Nightmare's arms to block, only for it to be sliced through and his arms were filled with slashes.

' What the?! Shit... I have to transform! ' Y/n thought and quickly transformed to his incomplete Devil Trigger form again and clashed against Alicia's blade. " I see... You deny your powers its true purpose... You never let loose of your powers... Well then, allow me to force your hand! " she told Y/n as she easily pushed off Y/n's attack and was continuously on the offensive.

' I cannot summon Sparda like this... One way or another, if I keep using this... I might break my arms... ' Y/n thought as he tried to strike back only for it to be blocked and was kicked to a distorted tower which crumbled on him.

With Kazuma

" Shit! They really invaded the city! Adventurers are not even here right now! " Kazuma swore as he slashed through the hordes of Hell Cainas. Shadow and Griffon struggled to fight demons and find Wiz. " Fucking hell... Where the hell did your asses go?! " Griffom frustratedly shouted as he zapped the surrounding demons with Round Robin.

With the demons statuesque and unable to move, Shadow used Y/n's cane to finish them off. " I'll leave them to ya! I need to find Wiz or else she goes poof! You know how we all hate that! " Griffon told the two as he flew away to search for Wiz.

' Come on... Are they outside the town? ' Griffon thought as a portal opened. A giant bird beak opened, attempting to eat and swallow Griffon whole. " Hooooly fu- ack! " Griffon was pierced by a chained kunai and was pulled somewhere.

" That was close... You could have been swallowed whole. " Kazuma told the avian familiar as Griffon turned into a core once he was grabbed by Shadow. ' We need to think of a plan to get out... If we can't, we will be trapped here. Has everyone...evacuated? ' Kazuma wondered in his mind as he snuck a peek upstairs undetected using Lurk skill.

" Demons are raiding the whole town Malphas. This place will turn into rubble once the work here is done. Those who have been killed are taken away by the Empusas to the Qliphoth. " a giant black knight said to Malphas. " Yes... Very good. I will take on a human form to guide Hans to poison the spring's water source. After that, we will consume this whole town. Keep the destruction going on... Remember, no survivors Cavaliere. " Malphas reminded the black knight as Cavaliere Angelo raised his sword as if he was a knight ready to serve his ruler.

" As you command. "

Malphas then went off as Cavaliere Angelo searched around for any adventurers fighting off demons. " Looks like we have to be careful with who we interact with. Let's leave...quietly. " Kazuma told Shadow as they went ahead.

As they reached the outskirts of the town, a glow of holy aura was outside. As Shadow touched it, his hand melted into black ink. Growling he wanted to strike it but knew better than to recklessly get his hand melted again.

' A barrier that repels demons... Even though these Axis cults are fucked up in the head, they are quite and more competent than Aqua... ' Shadow thought as he turned to Kazuma. Griffon then reformed for a while and said, " We can't travel here without turning into a core. Unless one of them is stupid enough to let us in the barrier for a moment, we cannot go any furter without being damaged. "

" Fuck... We have to go around and find another way to the evacuation zone. " Kazuma told them as Griffon shook his head. " No good, even if we go back, it's already infested by demons and especially since Cavaliere is on our backs, we cannot do that. We might as well stick in the border of the barrier. " Griffon responded to Kazuma's idea as they were running out of options until a voice shouted:

" Die! Demons! God Blow! "

" Welp... Looks like we found the idiot we are looking for, let's go! " Kazuma told the two as they approached Aqua. " Ah! Look who it is! Were you peeping so hard in the mixed baths that- ow! " Aqua then got smacked in the head. " Just let us in the barrier. Griffon and Shadow can't get in. Same goes for Y/n since he trapped Alicia so he could save us. Also, have you seen Wiz? " Kazuma asked as Aqua looked away.

" She's barely making it... Darkness is held captive trying to protect Megumin... Two demons holding a blade did it... "

" Let us in then! We cannot heal Wiz if I am not there! " Griffon shouted as Aqua stopped Griffon from recklessly flying towards the barrier.

" We cannot just simply go in there! We would look suspicious if the barrier suddenly disappeared for no reason! " Aqua told Griffon as the avian demon growled in desparation.

" I think... I can help... " a voice said as from the depths of the black liquid. It was Y/n and was suffering from most of his injuries from his battle. " Yep... I am not Alicia... I trapped her temporarily... Now...about our plan... "
