When the trio made it into space safely, Tate changed the ship into autopilot, smiling in relief. "Now, that's a gunner!" Tate cheered.
"That was some serious flying. How did you do that?"
"Flighter school, top of my class." Tate bragged proudly, "But Rey here has had zero training, she's an absolute ace on the wheel. A true natural."
BB8's chirping took them out of their geeky complimenting, and Rey exchanged some words with the droid. Tate leaned into him, "Your secrets safe with me, for now, Knockoff."
"I don't know your name." Rey looked at him.
"Finn. What's yours?"
"I'm Rey."
Tate looked at the two, her hands resting on her hips. "Tate Verlice." She smiled, and before anybody could exchange another word, the sound of a pipe bursting took them all out of their worry-free space. Tate jumped into action, running toward the issue. "You two, hot on my trails!" Her mind went straight into commanding mode, which made her jolt a little in shock. With Poe gone, Tate was now the commander of their fleet.
"What's going on?!" Finn asked.
Rey and Finn moved the metal, instruments beeping rapidly in their ears as chaos engulfed them once more. Tate jumped below, "It's the motivator. Grab me a Harris wrench, check over there. Ren, I'm gonna need you snappy, you think you can be snappy?" Rey nodded.
"How bad is it?"
"Well, depending on how you view the ideal... not very ideal." Tate snapped toward Rey, motioning for her to help out Finn.
"They're hunting for us now! We've gotta get out of this system."
"BB8 said the location of the Resistance base is "need to know". If I'm taking you there, I need to know!" Rey said, throwing over the Harris wrench. Tate disappeared, submerging into fixing the ship.
"Pilex driver, hurry." Tate placed the wrench on the floor.
"So, where's your base?" Rey asked Finn.
"Go on, BB8, tell her." Finn spoke, making Tate extremely cautious. BB8 had been loyal to a T, and with the likes of what Finn was (moreso, wasn't), BB8 wouldn't give it up.
"The Ileenium system?!" Rey exclaimed, and Tate looked at BB8, who gave her a little apologetic beep. Damnit, that robot had her whipped.
"Yeah, get us there as fast as you can." Finn responded, sharing a thumbs up with BB8.
"Bonding tape!"
"I can drop you and Tate off at Ponemah Terminal." Rey spoke.
"What about you?" Finn asked her.
"I gotta get back to Jakku," Rey said, like it was common knowledge. Finn exclaimed in disbelief.
"Why does everybody wanna go back to Jakku?" Finn asked.
