When my sister and Olivia left me in the room, I slumped on the bed. It felt like the comfiest place in the whole world where I could question myself why I let Liza leave. If anything happened to Liza, I would be the one to blame.
I closed my eyes to think about everything that had happened since we arrived. Suddenly, I remembered the poster in Tyrek's office. I pressured myself to recall the words written on the back. I had had a glimpse of the words. It had to be somewhere in the corner of my mind. That's when the words formed in my mind:
The Doors are opening. Giants are escaping. The Braven twins are needed to put them back. The giants are planning to send a spy. Please save me.
This had to be the message. But what doors? The powerful thing out there- was that a giant? We were the Bravens. But how are we supposed to help them? And who is the spy?
I ran my train of thought. Anything to answer these questions. Were giants trapped in some room? Was the energy inside us the key to saving the havens? And the spy- Could it be one of the havens? A giant? No, a giant would be a really bad spy. Then, who could–
Something hit me on the head. I let out a small 'ow'. I looked down to see a mini-screen on the bed. It suddenly sparked to life. It looked like a GPS.
I got out of my bed, took that mini-screen with me, and burst out the door. It showed me and my movements. A single sparking line showed me the way to someplace. I followed the line on the screen which led me to a cabin. The nameplate showed a name- Albesterin Silvesian. Why was everyone's name so strange?
I entered the cabin. It was exactly like our cabin. But the room contained bookshelves filled with hundreds of files. I looked at the mini-screen but it had died down. I quickly searched through the files. Most of them had stuff like training and history. In a while, I came across a file about us.
Its cover read 'The Bravens'. Its spine was brown and the cover had specks of dust. It seemed a little old. I don't think we are this old.
I flipped through the pages. A note fell to the ground:
NOTE TO SELF- YOUR NAME IS OLIVIA IN FRONT OF THE BRAVENS. THEY WILL BE VERY CONFUSED IF YOU CALL YOURSELF ALBESTERIN. DO NOT FORGET.
My eyes widened. I looked around at the files. From what I had learned, Olivia was the manager for the fire continent. That's why she had so many files. This had to be her cabin. So, her real name was Albesterin. I had wondered why she had an American name while the others had strange names.
I turned to a random page in the file.
Mother- Lirila Braven
Group- Fire
She was-
Wait! Was? I thought. I started reading again.
She was a very courageous and ambitious person. She was the best option for missions. She loved to prank the other havens, though it was a problem sometimes.
She was a lot like Liza. I thought
But she broke a major rule.
Still looks like Liza. I giggled. There was shuffling of feet outside. I turned around to see a figure running across the cabin.
I decided to take off from Olivia- Albesterin's cabin. If someone found me there, I'd be in trouble. I took the file and the mini-screen and ran off to my cabin.
I thought about when some girls at school had bullied me and Liza had taken my revenge by pranking them. Liza also had a lot of guts like our mother- Lirila Braven.
The mini TV buzzed in my hand. A scene popped up on the screen.
Liza and Albesterin were standing on a giant's head, dodging arrows. Many havens lay on the ground, injured. The scene zoomed in to show Liza, who had gotten many cuts and wounds from the fight. She had a gash on her forehead. As I'd suspected, she had been hurt but then the screen zoomed in on Albesterin. She had been hurt worse. The screen zoomed out but played on. I stared at what was happening. I couldn't do anything for them.
Then something clicked in my mind- Everyone has a weakness. A fatal flaw. Maybe the giant also has a weak point. It can be emotional or physical. I thought about it for a moment.
"I don't think giants have emotions so it should be physical," I said to myself. I pinched in on the screen to zoom in on the giant. Everything was normal about it (Did I say normal? Seeing a giant is normal now?) except for the pearl hanging from its neck. It had an aura that shouted power. The giant didn't seem to die in any way. The pearl had to be its life source. So they just had to destroy it. Maybe shoot an arrow? The only problem was how I would tell them about it.
I decided to go wherever the fight was going on. But someone was guarding my cabin.
"Where are you planning to go?" Oliver asked. Or whatever his real name was.
I took a moment to answer. "To save you guys. Where do you think I'm planning to go?"
Oliver sneered, "I thought you were paying a visit to Albesterin's cabin. Again."
I shuddered. Did he see me? "Well, this time I'm not. Do you want me to help you guys or not?"
"Everything is sorted. Don't worry." He took a step toward me. "I just want to talk to you."
I scrunched my eyebrows together. What did he want to talk to me about? I gestured for him to continue.
"It's about you and Liza."
