I landed behind the King just as Tyrek passed that area, leaving behind a gush of wind. I faced the backside of the King. Quickly, I swung the dagger at his leg, making a brief cut.
The King noticed me. He began to bend over to grab me in his fist while still fighting Bren and Oliver. Just as he was going to grasp me, I let out a screechy noise to alert Linent.
He teleported me with the hertillision pearl in a haste and onto the King's foot. I stabbed him again in the foot, chopping off one of his toes. I tried to make the screechy noise again to let Linent know but just as I was going to, the King kicked me off his foot (not gently).
I flew all the way to Bren. He let go of his trident and opened his arms to catch me. He took a step back. Then another. Adjusted himself. And...CRASH. Both Bren and I were on the ground, me in his arms.
"Are you okay?" He asked me.
I nodded, smiling faintly. "Thanks."
Just then, I was teleported onto the King's head, slid off his dark brown hair, and down his ear. I grabbed his earlobe, holding on for dear life. My feet swayed under me.
I dared not make any noise in the King's ear. I reached out one of my hands to climb up but failed. A trickle of sweat rolled down my forehead in fear. I held on tight. I couldn't die by falling off someone's ear.
I looked down at Bren. He was glancing around for me every second. I wondered why he was so worried about me. And that's when it happened.
The scythe, the same one that had injured me on the foot, emerged from the ground beneath Bren, making a deep pit in the ground. Bren slid into the pit and landed hard.
The scythe flew upwards to the King's hand. He wrapped his arms around the grip.
On the other side, I could see Oliver's eyes widen as the King swung his scythe at him. As soon as the scythe touched his leg, he let out a piercing cry. My instincts took up.
I threw the dagger as fast as I could towards the King's good eye. He looked straight at the dagger and tried to grab it with his empty hand. Thankfully, he failed to catch it, letting it hit its target straight on.
He yelled in agony. I could feel the pain that the King must have been feeling at the moment but it wasn't the biggest thing to worry about. I was falling off a giant as high as a cliff!
"I'm going to die!" I screamed as I thought about life in heaven.
Just as I was going to touch the ground, an arrow whizzed through my t-shirt and pinned me onto a tree. Nexiana had shot the arrow and was currently by Oliver's side. Linent made his way toward me.
"Let the hero of the day unpin you from this tree." He said, in a ridiculous accent.
I raised an eyebrow, completely baffled. And annoyed. "Says the guy who couldn't teleport me somewhere that is not a giant's head. And I wouldn't be stuck on this tree if it wasn't for you messing up hertilision."
"It's not my fault the pearl's energy level was low. Also, do you realize your last words could be 'I'm going to die.'? You could've done better. Just sayin'."
He pulled out the arrow. I landed on my feet and immediately started walking toward Oliver.
"And- Hey! You don't walk away from me!" Even though he pouted, he followed me.
Nexiana had dragged Oliver away from the fight still going on between Thiela and her husband.
I sat down next to Nexiana. She was examining the small cut on Oliver's knee. The skin around the cut had turned green. Even though it was small, it seemed to hurt, seeing Oliver's expression. His eyes were closed shut and he was trying not to scream.
