Olivia was right. This trip was not good. First, it felt like there was no ground under my feet. Then it was like I was being washed in a washing machine. When we landed, my feet felt wobbly.
As we all regained our balance, the sun was rising on Earth.
"Ugh, I still need practice," Olivia grumbled. "We're miles away from where we should be."
"It's okay. You have tried fortelision only once." Oliver tried to comfort her but it was impossible to calm her judging from the expression on her face.
"Olivia," Lucy said. "We are wasting our time like this. We should be on our way. Why don't you try again?"
Oliver shook his head. "We can't. Fortelision is a part of teleportation. It is used to travel from planet to planet. To use it again, we'll have to go back to Aresten where anyone can catch us teleporting. We can't even use hertillision, another part of teleportation. It is restricted to a place on the planet you are on. We use it on Aresten to get to different places when in a hurry. It is different for every planet and we don't know how it's done on Earth."
"So, we will have to walk all the way to..."
"Antarctica." Nexiana finished. "We can't really walk to Antarctica. Is there a port somewhere?"
"But isn't going to Antarctica dangerous? There are restricted regions. And they are restricted for some reason."
"We know, Lucy, we know." Olivia put a hand on her shoulder in an attempt to shut her up. "That is why the doors are there. There is no chance humans can find the doors. Not many people go there and no one will be able to find it."
We convinced Lucy and got her to stop freaking out. After she seemed a little less stressed out, we took our next action.
"First question: Where exactly are we?" I asked.
"Ushuaia, Argentina. It is the closest city to Antarctica so we're lucky about that. It's 4,649 km away." Oliver scowled. "Great. Just great." He kicked one of the rocks near him. I made a mental note- Stay away from Olivia and Oliver when they are angry. Only Nexiana and I were left who hadn't lost our minds.
Lucy was going to get mad again but then she felt something on her shoulder. I felt the same tug on my shoulder. Our backpack had changed. It was our school bag. We quickly called the others and opened the zip. There were all the school supplies and the stuff we'd brought from Aresten. We took out the dollars that we had gotten from the witches and our own.
We brightened at the sight of money. I had an idea forming in my mind. We could convert the dollars to whatever Argentina's currency was from a bank. We could use it to travel on a ship to Antarctica. I shared my plan with the others. Our only problem was the bank account. We didn't even know how to convert money. Lucy and I had mai and abba's bank account but it was always operated by one of their once co-workers. It was quickly solved when a lady helped by letting us use her account. We thanked her and immediately found our way to the dock where we could find a ship to reach Antarctica. On the way, I decided to ask some questions.
"You know Lyell from the earth group?" I asked.
A shadow crawled over Olivia's face. She glanced at Nexiana as if asking for her permission to answer my question. Nexiana nodded.
Olivia cleared her throat, "The lost haven, Linent, who sent the message. He was Lyell's brother. Lyell loved his brother but now that he is lost, Lyell's lost himself too."
Nexiana had suffered the same. It had broken both of them to lose him. It made me curious as to what kind of person he was. What was so special about him?
"But why are giants trapped on Earth? Why not Aresten?" This question was bothering me since the time I learned about it.
"Giants were the first residents on Earth. The hexens had created them before humans." Nexiana said. "But the giants started destructing Earth and Aresten too. The hexens had to do something so they decided to lock the giants."
"Girls, if you have finished your chit-chat," Oliver interrupted. "We have reached the dock." As he said that, the ground quaked. A figure was forming in front of our eyes. It had to be a giant.
Olivia conjured her spear. I also took off my backpack where I had kept my sword. It was sheathed in an orange cover. I'd never seen Oliver's weapon until today. He used two daggers with a red grip. Nexiana did nothing but look scared at the sight of the giant. Lucy looked ready with her plan. She mumbled words under her breath, probably curses.
The giant had sensed us as it was sniffing the air. Lucy had just enough time to explain her plan until the giant found us.
"Liza, Olivia, and Oliver, you go and distract this monster while Nexiana and I'll find a pearl like the other giant wore. Try not to cause a lot of sudden movement."
"Why?" I squinted my eyes at her.
"I... am going to climb the giant."
I wanted to argue but there was no time. In a matter of time, the giant would find us. We all nodded and took the plan into action as the giant turned to us.
The plan would work. It had to or it was end of story for us.
