chapter twenty three- finding out the truth

Ashes/pov

*Two days later

It was a nice wednesday evening the city was calm the only thing I could hear was the cars passing by I was almost ready to go to delilah's I picked out a beautiful night outfit and started doing my makeup

This the outfit I chose for her

once I was ready I raced downstairs quickly so my parents didn't know I was gone but unfortunately my mum caught up to me just as I was about to open the door she shouted while blocking the door so I couldn't leave

'WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT'

I gulped quickly and explained while stuttering

'd-delilah has i-invited me t-to dinner at her place with a f-few of my other friends'

Suddenly I heard Noah's voice

'no she isn't she's probably going out to see her secret boyfriend that you and dad don't know about'

I snapped

'SHUT THE FUCK UP NOAH'

my mom gasped after I told noah to shut up she then opened the door grabbed me by my hair and shoved me outside while Shrieking

'DON'T YOU DARE TELL YOUR BROTHER TO SHUT UP'

she then added while yelling

'JUST GO GET OUT OF MY SIGHT'

she slammed the door before I could say another word I shrugged my shoulders as I  began walking through the beautiful warm night

After walking for a few minutes I saw delilah outside a towering building she was waving her arms around like a maniac before shouting

'HEY ASH I'M OVER HERE'

I rushed over to her before hugging her lightly and saying

'sorry I'm late my mom made me late because I told my brother to shut the fuck up'

Delilah laughed while saying

'that's alright we're just waiting for Peter now Harry's upstairs in my room follow me'

she shut the door behind her as we started going up mountains of stairs once we finished the endless stairs we got to the final floor Delilah knocked on the door and her mom opened the door she glanced at me before exclaiming

'are you ash it's so lovely to meet you'

I replied

'yeah I'm ash thank you for inviting me'

I entered in seeing Delilah's dad and her two siblings Delilah then made her way to her room as I followed behind her once we were in her room we talked for a bit before we heard a knock at her window Delilah opened up the window then asked

'why didn't you go through the lobby'

Peter shrugged before saying

'don't know it was quicker to go this way'

A few minutes had passed and Delilah's dad entered the room he looked at us four before saying

'hey you four dinner's ready'

we all got up and left the room to sit at the dining table the dinner looked delicious but unfortunately I was next to Peter which was a nightmare I didn't talk to him because he was probably still angry with me but I was going to have to talk with him I wanted to know what he was hiding Delilah's brother then asked

'hey dad have you caught that spider guy yet'

delilah's dad stared at him for a moment before saying frustratedly

'I haven't yet but I will eventually'

he continued after having another bite of his food

'like he assaults criminals in the dead of night he leaves clues though he's dangerous'

I glanced over Peter as he put down his fork and mumbled unsurely

'wait assaulting criminals I saw that video when he was stopping that car thief maybe he's trying to help'

Delilah's dad then added

'how do you seem to know about this case you know we don't know about it like who's side are you on'

Peter shrugged while saying

'I'm not on anyone's side like I'm saying he's probably trying to help I saw the video on the internet'

delilah's father responded

'oh you saw the video on the internet well case closed'

Peter then added

'but maybe this masked hero is doing something that the police can't'

Delilah's dad then explained

'well we can't just sit around all day we have to do something'

Peter then murmured loudly

'well he's still trying to save innocent people from criminals'

Delilah's dad then finally explained

'he's not protecting innocent people from criminals Peter'

the table was then silent before I asked Delilah's mom

'Is it alright if me and Peter get some air I need to talk to him'

she nodded I got up as I dragged peter out his seat so he'd follow me I didn't say anything until we made it outside on the rooftop where there was dark view right in front of us Peter was going to go back in but I slapped him on the cheek I then yelled

'WE HAVEN'T TALKED IN A COUPLE WEEKS WHAT ARE YOU HIDING'

Peter/pov

I stared at ash intensely I knew she was trying to find out about why I was disappearing and becoming spiderman but I couldn't tell her the real reason I replied

'I'm not hiding anything I swear'

ash snapped back

'YES YOU ARE YOU'VE BEEN DISAPPEARING SO MUCH THAT I HAVE TO HELP OUT YOUR POOR AUNT WHO'S WORRIED FOR YOUR SAFETY WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON'

I couldn't tell anyone about me being spiderman not even ash I was scared that she would spread the information to others and then everyone would know I put my head down on the brick railing and explained

'ever since my uncle died I'

Ash immediately stopped me by saying

'I know this is not about your uncle tell me the real reason'

I sighed quietly I had to tell her if she was that desperate to find out why I was disappearing so much she'd get it I stuttered while looking straight at her

'I've b-been b-bitten'
