chapter five- dinner

Ashes/pov

I'd been on my computer for about two hours I eventually got bored so I closed all my tabs and shut my computer down after that I dragged my tired feet over to the window I saw the sun was setting over the horizon the sky were crimson orange there were only a few people outside I could look at the you for hours but my mom distracted me by screaming

'ASH GET YOUR FAT ASS DOWNSTAIRS NOW'

I rolled my eyes as I left my room to head downstairs my mom was in the kitchen cooking I immediately tapped her lightly on the shoulder that's when she turned her head to look at me I murmured

'you called me down here what do you want'

My mom hissed

'you've been in your room since we got home the others have asked if you could come downstairs to watch a movie with them'

She then added on

'well don't just stand there go in the living room and stop pestering me'

I quickly left the kitchen to go to the living room where I found my siblings and my dad watching a movie my dad wasn't really bothered on the movie while my siblings were sitting there silently watching it but when I entered the room my dad stared at me and complained

'long time no see we were waiting for you and you finally came downstairs to join us'

I explained

'well I'm sorry I've been really busy with homework and I'

My dad Snapped angrily

'SILENCE I DON'T CARE IF YOU'VE BEEN UPSTAIRS SINCE WE GOT HOME JUST SIT DOWN'

I immediately sat down on the couch I glanced at the movie for a second and wasn't interested with the movie so I got out my phone and started texting peter

ash: hey pete I'm watching the worst movie ever it's so boring 🥱

Peter: what movie is it

ash: it's the emoji movie 🙄

Peter: at least it's not frozen 😅

ash: yeah then I would've stayed in my room all evening 😂

ash: I have to go or my dad will complain at me for talking to boys

Peter: ok see you tomorrow

I put my phone down and sighed quietly I never knew why my parents treated me like this they treated my other siblings like they perfectly fitted into the world but with me I was always a mistake to them

After daydreaming for a few minutes I heard my mom shriek

'GUYS FOODS READY IT'S ON THE DINING TABLE'

my dad and siblings dashed out the room while I tiredly got up from my comfy spot on the couch and walked slowly to the dining room once I entered I yawned loudly everyone glanced at me while my dad grumbled grumpily

'you're always the last one to get here it's because you spend too much time in your room and no time with us'

I sighed my mom gasped loudly like she just saw a ghost glide across the room then disappear after a few seconds she yelled

'DON'T SIGH AT YOUR FATHER SIT DOWN NOW OR YOUR DINNERS GOING TO BE COLD'

I nodded my head quickly as I raced to my seat no one said a word after that there was just silence at the table no one had anything interesting to talk about it was just the sound of cutlery and the sounds of eating until my sister asked my dad

'hey dad I'm wondering have you caught that spider guy yet'
