Cold, snowfall every week, the sun drifting behind the grey skies, and it's getting darker compared to when they were back in October.
Windchills in the negatives, temperatures expected to drop in the negatives at night, added with a chance of accumulation of snow well into the morning hours.
Theodore made up the flat for his ferrets and they've spent time familiarizing themselves with the layout. Getting in trouble as they normally would, while getting used to their new environment. They're surprised how colourful Theodore's flat looked compared to the clean pressed colours in the dome they lived with Uncle.
Bam Bam found the remote and been watching the telly, musing that they never had anything like it.
Theodore explained everything to Bam Bam while the other ferrets made their own corners in the flat. Rambunctious little things, they are, but Theodore loved them all the same ever since he met them on his birthday when a friend of his father's came for a visit with the carrier.
Strange man, Theodore remembered, but his father knew him enough that he's welcomed inside their home. Theodore's mother gave him tea and a few scones while Theodore played with his new pets.
Of course, Hammond didn't care for the ferrets and neither them. He never had the touch for animals, that much's evident. Hence, his first pet's the annoying robot, K9. Can't bite if it hasn't got a mouth and Hammond spent too much time messing with the programming.
At least Odette's an animal person, she loved the ferrets too, small as she was at the time.
Vividly, Theodore remembered how his mother showed skepticism at her children having ferrets and K9, but his father managed to convince her that they'll be fine.
Sitting in his chair with his long leg over the other, Theodore watched his ferrets scurry around their new surroundings and besieging him with questions about everything. It's expected since they've been gone for so long and Theodore answered them.
They asked about Bill and Lila, which Theodore talked about them, letting the ferrets know that they're friendly.
Panda found the TARDIS stowed away in plain sight as Theodore fixed the chameleon circuit that's prone to breaking, if not maintained. Few people knew how to fix it and honestly, Theodore isn't surprised they don't know how, it's complicated unto itself, per anything from Time Lords. Thankfully, he managed and disguised it as something unexpected.
A door in his kitchen.
Couldn't exactly keep it as the blue police box all the time, in a small London flat, now, could he?
Unable to keep their excitement contained, Theodore showed them the inside of the TARDIS, and they explored it for hours, finding things that Theodore hadn't gotten around to throwing out or putting up.
There's a happy squeal coming from Starlight and her paws prattled against the grated flooring as she's got something in her mouth.
It's a red clip-on bow tie.
She frantically carried it and Theodore caught her, asking her what's she doing.
Starlight tried to talk, but with the bow tie in her mouth, it came out jumbled. Theodore took the bow tie out of her mouth and she explained that she recognized the scent on it, it reminded her of someone who returned her to her siblings.
Describing him, Starlight had a twinkle in her brown eye as she recalled the adventure they had until he brought her back to the TARDIS.
"Mum always said you were a troublemaker," Theodore noted what his mum said about Starlight once the man told her what Starlight done.
Gotten distracted by a shiny object, lost her way, ended up on the chest of a sick man, and kissed him goodbye at the end of it.
His father had a laugh about it, at least.
Starlight wondered whatever happened to the man who saved her, she hadn't seen him in so long, she wondered how he's doing.
"I'm sure he's fine, Star," Theodore lightly touched her pink nose. "He's a Doctor, remember."
He handed back the bow tie and Starlight ran off with it to put in her own corner of Theodore's flat.
Happy squealing came from the ferrets as they ran about the TARDIS, exploring, until Theodore noticed the time and recalled them for dinner.
Starlight wanted a few slices of roast beef from the butcher shop and Theodore obliged. She sat on the kitchen island eating her slices while the others ate from their bowls. Mix of everything for the healthy diet of space ferrets.
Theodore sat with his large bowl of everything but the kitchen sink. It's a rice bowl with an added twist of shepherd's pie. He ate everything in the bowl until there's only a few rice sticking to the bowl.
Did the dishes and relaxed with the ferrets watching the telly before bed.
The ferrets curled up on Theodore as he sat in his chair pointed at the telly while they watched a show, he picked for them.
On his mind, he discussed a matter with himself, as he'll have to go on adventures with Lila. They could not leave long, but he didn't want to leave the ferrets unattended. He didn't want them coming along, either. Simply too dangerous and he didn't want them getting hurt.
His brother's not fond of them as it is and unless there's an extreme emergency, only then he'll take care of them until Theodore comes back.
Odette can't exactly take care of them since she travels for her jobs and he didn't want to burden her with that.
Hamon might've obliged taking care of them, but Theodore didn't want to burden him, either.
"Think, think, think," Theodore muttered to himself as he's thinking to himself how to keep his ferrets attended while he and Lila dealt with the duties of being the Doctor and companion.
In his thoughts, he watched the telly with his ferrets, until there's a knock at the door, which sent the ferrets in a scurry as they hid while Theodore got up and answered.
It's his landlady, Mrs. Thornton.
Since it's getting cooler out, her wrists haven't been nice to her, and often asks for Theodore's help.
He obliged and helped her toss out rubbish, there he began to strike up a conversation with her.He got along fine with Mrs. Thornton, she'd often badger him about his weight and always asked if he's eating enough, which if she seen how much he eats regularly, shouldn't be a problem.
Something or another happened and he ended up asking Mrs. Thornton on her opinions about ferrets.
Surprisingly, she showed adoration with them, since she's allergic to certain animals. Ferrets interested her greatly, but of course she never had them as pets.
It gave Theodore pause and he ended up showing her his beloved pet ferrets.
He asked for her to keep an eye on them whenever he's out and promised to pay extra if they break anything or bite her.
Mrs. Thornton got along with the ferrets and ended up discussing what tea she should make with the little buggers sitting around the table with her.
At least that's settled and it gives the 50-year-old landlady something to do and keep her on her toes.
Eventually, after Mrs. Thornton left for her flat, Theodore returned to his with his ferrets, and they readied for bed. All four ferrets fit snug on his bed, all curled near Theodore as he sprawled out.
Tomorrow, he'll have to put on a puppet show for the kids and that'll be a lot of fun, his father taught him how to throw his voice and everything once, it'll be worth it.
Theodore slowly dozed off until he started to snore with his ferrets near or on him, all snoring in tune.
