It's another day, there's more work to be done, everything's going according to schedule, by the end of the week, they'll fill their quota, and then they'll have vacation.

Oh, John couldn't wait for his vacation, he's been dreaming of it since the start of the year.

He planned everything from the moment he gotten wind of his scheduled vacation coming up soon and he's ready.

Once that bell rang, out he went, but not alone like one expected in his position, he's met someone working in Durham Industries.

A lovely woman by the name Mary, she worked in the same line as him, that's how they met, they spent time together working and sharing stories around lunch.

Culminated into friendship that further culminated into romance.

Made John turn brighter than the sun itself opening his heart to her, but his poor heart nearly leapt out of his chest when she felt the same.

In a strange way, he never felt nervous when they were alone together in private, he instantly felt comfortable with her.

He should've considering he wasn't buff like most men, but he didn't feel nervous, happy.

They've been together for about three years; John remembers because he made them dinner for their third anniversary.

Saved every bit of money that John's able to spring for a nice dinner with her for their anniversary, worth every pence and burning the tips of his fingers.

Strangely, John wasn't that good at cooking, he feared that he'd burn their dinner, leaving them having to scrounge for food elsewhere, but he was cooking like a world class chef.

Didn't even go to cooking school, either!

He never cut steaks the way the recipe called before, but here he was, cutting them like a champ, cooking them like a professional.

Mary complimented on his cooking, saying it tasted better than any restaurant she's been, that's a high compliment that John's ever received before.

Surprised him more than her, he's good at following the packaging, he was never good at cooking, but somehow, he managed to make a presentable dinner that tasted as good as it looked.

Topped off with dessert.

It's almost like fate had them meet, weird as it sounded, and he's happy that it did, never met anyone like Mary before, he felt comfortable around her, enough to tell her things he never told anyone, and vice versa.

There's some familiarity between them, John couldn't explain it, but it's in a good way, like they've been old friends.

Couldn't wait to go on a vacation with her, somewhere warm, perhaps, nowhere with intense sunlight, though, neither tanned very well, even slathered with a bottle's worth of sunblock.

Somewhere with plenty of food and live music, something colorful, better than the sterile background of Durham Industries.

Today, he's working the line with her, checking the outgoing parcels heading for the trucks, Mary's with him, and she flashed a smile to him as he joined her side.

It wasn't anything strenuous that they couldn't have a conversation as they did their jobs, most times it took minutes for a parcel coming out from another part of the complex.

They talked about anything that came to mind, whatever the mood called for, in between scanning parcels and directing them to the right conveyer belts for the workers further down to load onto the trucks.
