Another dream, another early morning wake up as Ranboo shot up in the bed again. Once again, sweating and trying to convince himself that it wasn't his fault, that it was a dream, and Dream's voice was just a voice.
And once again, Tubbo's hands intertwined with his and attempted to calm him down. With Tubbo's gentle voice and their soft touches, Ranboo was lulled back to sleep, this time without a bad dream.
This was a recurring thing, and Ranboo was getting tired of it. He didn't need to have Tubbo constantly wake up for him, having to calm Ranboo down until they were both asleep. So when Ranboo this morning, he restrained himself from reacting.
It's fine. He was fine. It's just a dream. And it wasn't his fault. Ranboo nodded to himself. 'I'm fine.'
Plus, they were leaving Eret's castle tomorrow, fully healed and ready to be back and about. He's just gotta push through, and ignore the freaky dreams that were happening more and more. Even if only so often, they were piling up. Today he had just woken up from a fifth dream that somehow related to Tommy being taken by the Egg- and in the dream it was most definitely Ranboo's fault, getting increasingly obvious with each dream.
'But those are dreams.' he reminded himself, slipping out of the bed and becoming grateful that he hadn't woken up Tubbo yet.
The cold floor actually relieved him as it shot up from his feet into the whole of his body as he walked across the room, finding himself leaning on the rails of the small balcony their shared room adorned.
The sun was barely starting to rise, and despite how everything was painted with shades of dark blue and grey, one would have basically no problem seeing in this light.
Coming out here, underneath the moon and across from the sun. It felt like exactly the thing Ranboo needed. It was a bit chilly outside, but the right amount as it felt refreshing and not like he needed to run in and grab something to cover up. His mind could focus on something else, like how darn peaceful it was out here, he was starting to love it already. Or focus on the way the trees looked in this lighting, quite nice.
Using the wondrous sights of nature to calm his mind proved to be quite effective, as he managed to walk in without a single thought of the dreams, or the voices- about any of it. And start his day peacefully, without anxiety slowly bubbling in his stomach at little things.
"Good morning."
Ranboo turned to face the voice, thick with sleep as Tubbo rubbed his eyes before sitting up. Ranboo hummed from across the room, focusing on the book in his hands from where he sat.
"How long have you been awake?"
"Not long." Ranboo answered. Four hours wasn't long, right?
Ranboo's eyes travelled back to the balcony, the moon was gone and the sun was well positioned in the sky. The light was nice and soft, yet quite bright as it filled up the whole room with great effect.
So it was expected when Tubbo squinted his eyes, adjusting to the light before sliding out of bed. "What's the plan for today, bossman? It's our last day living with Eret, isn't it?"
"It is." Ranboo confirmed, placing the tattered book down on the equally old stand next to him before standing up. "So we should do something for them, a way to thank them for helping us."
Tubbo's face stalled for a bit- in a way as he thought about it. "I know what we could do."
"Really? Let's hear it." Ranboo said with a smile, leaning against the wall and Tubbo took over the chair he was originally in.
"Ok, so this is what I was thinking." Tubbo began, his excitement for today already wearing off the sleep he was so strongly blanketed with before. And Ranboo listened, thinking it was equally just as good of an idea as Tubbo did.
